Ken is joined on this episode by an old University buddy called Ryan Bartram who is making his way through the ranks of British Professional Wrestling. They talk about the unique demands of Wrestling and how Ryan has adapted his training over the years.
In this episode Ken and Tim are joined by Steve Curtis who is the Head of Sport at Hull University. We talk about his background and look at how the student life has changed at Hull over the years especially in regards to sport and participation. As well as an insight into developing facilities worth 16 million pounds.
Ken and Tim are joined by both Andy Morgan-Harrison and his younger brother David as they discuss Andy's sporting journey from childhood, through the university of Hull into an Olympic hopeful and one of the quickest people in Europe. Both brothers are specialist 200m runners, discussing training, competitiveness and how they have coped during the pandemic.
Alex joins again as we talk about Muscle Fibre types in the body and how they are related to different forms of training and sport. We ask if they can be shifted or developed through training, a look at concurrent training methods and how these different forms influence the results and training effect. We also look at how this differs from how individuals need to eat with more of a focus on nutrition for performing, either in the gym or for a chosen sport. Alex will be back on in the future for more in depth discussion.
Joined by Jenny Berthelemy newly appointed Womens representative in Sport at Hull University. We talk about potential barriers affecting female participation and the negative perceptions on training for performance held by some groups. How external influences can effect mindset and Jenny's own experiences joining sporting groups across nations.
In a more relaxed episode Ken and Dan talk about their University experience's, the opportunities available and what Hull has to offer. The topic of plateaus is also covered with ideas and suggestions on how to break the inevitable stagnation of training.
