Simone has many beautiful practices from her dwarf family, but finding her more authentic shape as an elf meant unlearning lots of these habits, sweet as they are, and redefining them in a way that was more true for her. Even when it’s easy to spot your avatar, the journey to unlocking your authenticy still takes the time it takes.

Each avatar has all these cool traits. And when we identify the avatar system for ourselves there can be a funny internal pressure to be the BEST at that trait. Or we have to have EVERY trait or we couldn’t be that avatar. Like every hobbit must love to garden.  So, if you are a hobbit and you don’t garden, do the other hobbits point at you, and keep you out of hobbit games? Or maybe you aren’t really a hobbit?  What if you are an elf, but you don’t think you have much vision. Or the wee fairy, do fairies feel pressure to produce more? Or maybe just to snack more?  I mean the pressure, right!?

It’s a resistance pattern that seems catastrophic but in reality is just a glitch that is signalling to you that some change, probably good change, is on the horizon. Suicide ideation is not at all what it seems like, but our culture has a real gag order on ever speaking about it, or sharing the details. Ironically it’s often considered taboo to distinguish the differences between genders. “Woke” society wants us to focus on the ‘sameness’ of each other, in an attempt for more fluidity. But this is not always helpful to create peace and understanding or fluidity. In fact, pointing out the differences is essential for communication, sexuality, and Kiran would add learning differences between genders. The gals have a different road map for peace between genders.

Sometimes we feel a lot of internal pressure to KNOW. For instance, listening to this podcast there might be pressure to know what Avatar you are, or know what is authentic and what is your habitual baggage. However, in truth it takes time and a very adventurous journey to slowly unpack our “stuff” and discover the authentic voice we each have. And there is no problem at all with taking that time. Hint: The pressure we feel internally is part of the stuff to unpack, so its A-OK to feel it, it helps you to see it!
