Humble Beginnings

If hard work and good fortune was a person, it’d be Donovan Webb! From becoming the current In Arena Host for the Colorado Avalanche, to physically witnessing the Denver Nuggets win their first NBA Championship, to holding the Larry O’Brien trophy, Donovan has truly been living his best life!

Donovan’s journey into the sports media/hosting realm is not the “traditional” pathway, he’s an anomaly. Donovan started in the field of Social Work (yes, he’s still doing this too), then became a part of the Nuggets Hype Squad, Elevation Dunk Squad, and from there it was only up! He became an In Arena Host for the Colorado Mammoth, eventually taking his hosting talents to the Colorado Avalanche.

During this episode of “Humble Beginnings”, Donovan touches on his Social work/media journey, his recipe for success, new found love for hockey, and even gives us an inside glimpse of the 2023 NBA finals and championship parade.

Have you ever felt super excited for a TV episode that you were anxiously waiting for it to premiere? That’s how I felt about this episode in particular. It’s a satisfying moment, when you get to interview a loved one, learn along with an audience about their life, and then walk away with new found wisdom and confirmation. For this episode, I spoke with my cousin Eddie Junior, about his life as a DJ. He’s been blessed with an exciting career thus far, that has provided him with big opportunities and big life lessons. Join us as we dive into the Los Angeles music/DJ scene, his background, monthly radio show “Mixed Fruit”, industry lessons/words of wisdom, and more!

It all started with an Uber Ride…

As I align with my purpose, God/the Universe tends to find & present potential interview opportunities in unconventional ways. I was headed to a Nuggets playoff game with my bestie and Aj Angels was our driver. The conversation started off about NBA Playoff picks and gradually turned into a brief Aj Angels music listening session and conversation, followed by a podcast invite. During this episode, Aj Angels discusses his musical sound/style, self investment, songwriting process, his take on the Colorado music scene, his future, and more!

At the beginning of this episode, you’ll be greeted with a new “Humble Beginnings” theme song/intro! This theme song will be used in future episodes as well. It is written and sung by Aj Angels and produced by Trippy Moe (Instagram: @trippyymoe
