Humility Rules

1 Peter 3:1-12

 v8, “…Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude…”

 

(1) Rules for Humility

“accept authority”

Ephesians 5:21, “submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.”

Humility=giving preference to another

“in the same way”

“give honor”

“Treat your wife with understanding…”  

Romans 12:10, “Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.”

Philippians 2:3b, “Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.”

(2) Humility Rules

See 1 Peter 3:8-12

The Reason: v9, “that is what God called you to do”.

Another nudge: Someone is watching! See v10-12

(3) Humility Rise

See 1 Peter 5:5-6

“In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for ‘God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.”

See 1 Peter 3:18, 22
