In the year 1066 a battle was fought in northern England between the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings from Norway. It wouldn't go well for the Norwegians and that battle marks what most historians consider to be the end of the Viking Age. At the head of the Viking army was King Harald Sigurdsson, later known as Harald Hardrada, or "hard ruler." He is an incredibly interesting historical figure that you've probably never heard of.
