Hungry Hip Hop

Today we’ve got something a little different for you guys: Little Dominique’s Nosebleed. One way you could describe this album would be if Kevin Abstract of BROCKHAMPTON and Earl sweatshirt had a love child. This album is pretty avant-garde and really pushes hip-hop to its limits. As a matter of fact, today’s episode features Hungry Hip-Hop’s first-ever abstention when its spiciness came to a vote. So, tune in and find out what to expect from this experimental journey with The Koreatown Oddity.

Today’s installment centers on Ice Cube’s 1990 album AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted. Join the Hungry Hip-Hop crea as they journey through the turbulent streets of 90’s Los Angeles with their ferocious guide, Ice. A brief deviation from form, today’s episode focuses on the Gorillaz’s latest project Song Machine Season One. The crew had high hopes going into this one in light of all the talent from today’s hip-hop scene on the album, not to mention the esteem of the Gorillaz themselves. Features from prominent artists like 6lack, JPEGMAFIA, and Skepta were just some of a few of the big names on this band’s latest album. Tune in and find out whether it managed to live up to the eminence of its authors and their guests.

In this bonus clip, Mark tells Allen that we can't do a Side Dish episode on Tyler, the Creator because Milo REFUSES to listen to Goblin, though he listened to Bastard and LOVED it. See and Milo and Allen get into it in this short 5 minute clip!

Whole lotta awkwardness...but what can you do with a nine-minute album? The crew discusses Mario Judah’s latest project Whole Lotta Red. Pop a squat and listen in as our four hosts tussle with this reinvention of Playboi Carti living in the shadow of Young Thug. Releasing just four tracks is a great excuse for writing a short af description (if y’all know what we mean…).

Put on your space boots, folks, as we venture into outer space with Kid Cudi’s latest project: Man on the Moon III. As a rover embarks on a mission to decrypt the uncharted terrain of distant planets, so embark our three fearless Hipponauts on a trail of misery and death through the Lunar windstorm of Kid Cudi’s profound sorrow. This opera of loneliness and despair almost received lowest honors, CERTIFIED RAGÚ. But it was saved by a clever filibuster, the author of which this description must conceal, but if you tune in, the ending will reveal.

The people that walked in the bayou have seen a great light: they that dwell in the swamps below the Mason-Dixie, upon them have the spicy tracks shone. Unto them, an emcee is born, and His name shall be called, “Prince of the Trap.” Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Atlanta! Behold: Lil’ Weezy cometh unto thee—fair, having flaming hot bars, haughty, and ghost-riding a Phantom. No Ceilings can contain his majesty. Join the Hungry Hip-Hop Crew as we dissect the Prophet of Old’s project, No Ceilings 3, in our first mixtape review to date. Come let us explore him.
