  • Luxury Shoes, Career Pivots, and Motherhood with Adrianna Cognetti Fiddle | Hustle & Schmear Ep. 53

    Send us Fan Mail

Somebody sold us the idea that you can do everything at 110%. Liz and Jason aren't buying it, and neither is today's guest.

Today it's Adrianna Cognetti Fiddle: Jason's former account rep at Sergio Rossi, a Scranton native who walked to work in stilettos, ran wholesale for the Americas, and now runs a house of two boys under four on Long Island.

There's straight advice for women getting into fashion (it's not all glamour, and there's a million other girls who will do the job), a New York date who went to the bathroom and never came back, and the moment she realized her husband could be the one. Then the real conversation: who you are before kids, who you are after, and why your own career still matters. Plus Schmoozefest, This or That, chicken nuggets and a caviar bump for Nosh of the Day, and a Mitzvah of the Day.

It's luxury shoes, career pivots and bad dates, with an honest talk about ambition and motherhood in the middle.

Pour a protein coffee and join Liz Cohen and Jason Salstein for Hustle & Schmear Episode 53 with Adrianna Cognetti Fiddle.

  • Hustle & Schmear I Ep. 52: Miami Traffic, Banned Books, and Killer Robots

    Send us Fan Mail

Liz and Jason go to Miami for the sunshine. They get monsoon season instead.

Today it's a rain-soaked drive to Books and Books — no umbrella, no real plan, just two yentas trying to make it across town in one piece. Naturally, nothing goes exactly as planned.

It starts on the water at Sunset Harbor, then flashes back to the drive: a pizza debate, a Grindr outage that somehow ends at the RNC and then at Hooters, a coffee pit stop with their friend Gil, and a parking search that turns into its own subplot. They finally make it to Books and Books where instead of finding books, Liz also found love. On the way home: fashion talk, flooding, a couple of near-misses, and a robot nobody expected. A stop at Miami Slice earns its own Nosh of the Day. They close it out back at Sunset Harbor with a Rosh Hashanah sign-off and a Mitzvah of the Day.

It's rain-soaked roads, a pizza debate and a parking odyssey.

  • Hustle & Schmear I Ep. 51: From The Webster to the World Wide Web with Brad Cummins

    Send us Fan Mail

Brad Cummins went from the sales floor at The Webster to building the websites that sell luxury fashion. He's the founder of WMD Agency in Miami Beach, and this week he joins Jason and Liz to talk about getting rejected twice before getting hired, what happens when Chanel tells you to take the photo down, whether AI is coming for your job, and how a summer camp for troubled kids turned him into a fly fisherman.

Plus: the great creamer debate, why Apple won with three clicks, a sushi boat in Miami, and a bagel order that costs more than it should.

  • Hustle & Schmear I Ep. 50: The New York Episode

    Send us Fan Mail

50 episodes in, and Jason & Liz finally left the air conditioning.

Today, Liz and Jason trade the studio for a full day on the ground in New York — no finalized agenda, no notes, just two yentas making their way around the city. Naturally, nothing goes exactly as planned.

It starts with a walk-and-talk through Liz's real Brooklyn neighborhood — a Cartier watch appointment, a very strong opinion on the best public restroom in the city, and a stop to catch up with their friend Jenine. Then it's on the road to Long Island — tunnels, traffic, a Princess Bride quote nobody asked for, and a visit with their friend Thomas at Hirschleifers. They close it out after hours, steps counted, martinis ordered, with a full debrief on the most New York moments of the whole trip.

It's brownstones, back-seat driving and bathroom reviews — with plenty of detours, unsolicited GPS commentary and at least one shouting match with a tunnel along the way.

Bring cash for tolls, pack comfortable shoes, and join Liz Cohen and Jason Salstein for the Hustle & Schmear Episode 50 special.

  • Clueless is Getting a Sequel & Nantucket Banned Influencers | Hustle & Schmear Ep. 49

    Send us Fan Mail

Liz and Jason are back at the deli counter this week to unpack a Clueless sequel, an influencer ban in Nantucket, and the ongoing question of what actually makes a bodega a bodega. Then Liz reports back from a flight spent seated next to Karlie Kloss, Jason reveals the 145-page book he just finished drawing, and the two of them attempt to plan a vacation together—complete with a shortlist nobody can agree on, a mandatory tick check, a $7 cold brew grievance, and a tennis coach running a very transparent hustle.

Along the way, they discuss Vincent Pastore, The Sopranos, Alicia Silverstone, Cher Horowitz, the Met Gala, Anna Wintour, John Galliano, LeBron James, the Philadelphia 76ers, the New York Knicks, Patti Smith, New York Magazine's Vulture, Dumbo, Brooklyn Heights, Prospect Heights, Williamsburg, Jack's Wife Freda, The Row, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, an $800 t-shirt, the Hermès Garden Party, Bemelmans Bar, Sunset Tower, the Bulgari Hotel Milan, the Four Seasons Surfside, Aperol spritz in Venice, Montreal, Portugal, Copenhagen, Maine, the Rafa Nadal Academy, Coral Gables, and why every good hotel bar comes with a little bowl of nuts.

Welcome to Hustle & Schmear where the coffee is strong, the opinions are stronger, and somehow the conversation always ends up somewhere completely unexpected.

  • Hustle & Schmear I Ep. 48: Can Liz & Jason Survive Europe Together? Substack, Fashion & Travel Chaos

    Send us Fan Mail

Liz and Jason are back at the deli counter this week as they introduce their brand-new Substacks, debate celebrity press-tour looks, and recap a massive Jay-Z show at Yankee Stadium. Then the conversation takes an international turn as they attempt to plan a European vacation together—complete with restaurant priorities, overpacking concerns, public-bathroom recommendations, airplane-seat boundaries, and the very real possibility that they may not survive traveling together.

Along the way, they discuss Zendaya and Law Roach, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong’o, Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland’s handbag collection, Cartier watches, Café de Flore, Paris museums, Amsterdam bike traffic, Spanish dinner times, and why a mismatched pair of candlesticks can ruin an otherwise perfectly good podcast set.

Plus: What is the best public bathroom in New York City? How many pairs of shoes does one person need in Europe? And why is Jason already preparing to explain Liz’s disappearance to her father?

Welcome to Hustle & Schmear where the coffee is strong, the opinions are stronger, and somehow the conversation always ends up somewhere completely unexpected.

  • Hustle & Schmear I Ep. 47.: Schvitzing Through Summer

    Send us Fan Mail

Hustle & Schmear is back for Season 2 and the deli counter is officially open.

After a little summer hiatus, Liz and Jason reunite to catch up on birthdays, London adventures, New York summers and the childhood memories that still define the season. From sleepaway camp, first crushes and family vacations to summer foods, beach bags, fashion, travel and the eternal beach-versus-pool debate, nothing stays on topic for very long and that’s exactly the point.

They’re also talking summer resets, Liz and Jason’s new Substacks, Jason’s art classes, questionable footwear, expensive straw bags, nostalgic summer movies, lobster rolls, corn on the cob and why every relaxing vacation apparently comes with the possibility of an animal attack.

It’s bagels, banter and brutal honesty—with plenty of unsolicited opinions, inappropriate stories and detours along the way.

Grab an iced coffee, find some shade and join Liz Cohen and Jason Salstein for the Hustle & Schmear Season 2 premiere.

Welcome to episode #42 of Hustle & Schmear.Hosted by Jason Salstein and Liz Cohen, this podcast is your dose of bagels, banter, and brutal honesty. Two besties yada, yada-ing, exploring, and diving deep into life’s curiosities. Whether you want to join or not, we don’t care, just let us know so we can have a head count for the wonton soup order!

In this episode, “Purim Schmurim,” we unpack the story of Esther, Mordecai, and Haman through the lens of identity, courage, and what it really means to stand up when it’s uncomfortable with the help of our friend, FIU Hillel Director, Jon Warech. We talk about how the themes of antisemitism, visibility, and resilience in the Purim story still feel relevant today. From childhood memories of school plays and costumes to the sound of graggers drowning out Haman’s name, we explore the traditions that shaped us and the joy that keeps Jewish culture alive. Of course, we also get into the fun: hamantaschen debates, Purim songs, and the chaos, humor, and survival instincts that define the holiday. It’s equal parts history, nostalgia, and modern-day schmear, with a reminder that sometimes the most radical thing you can do is show up proudly as yourself.
