Back to School Sunday is a reminder that as our schedules fill up, it is easy for busyness and productivity to become the center of our lives. Scripture shows us that God created us for relationship before work, commands Sabbath because He knows how easily work can become worship, and invites us to rest as an act of faith in His provision. Ultimately, Jesus is our true Sabbath—our rest is not found simply in taking a day off, but in trusting the One who has already done everything necessary for us. We are not defined by what we accomplish; we are sons and daughters of God, invited to stop striving, sit at His feet, and rest in Him.

In Genesis 50:15–21, we see the power of forgiveness, the faithfulness of God, and His ability to redeem even the darkest circumstances for His purposes. Joseph's response to those who wronged him points us toward trusting God's sovereignty, extending grace to others, and finding hope in the truth that God can use what was intended for evil to accomplish His greater good.

Joseph’s journey reminds us that God is sovereign over every season of life. Through years of faithfulness, obscurity, and waiting, God prepared Joseph to accomplish His greater purpose—not just to elevate Joseph, but to save countless lives. Our calling is to remain faithful, steward what God has given us, and trust the God who rules over kings and kingdoms.

This week, we explored Genesis 40 and the life of Joseph, discovering that when life isn't fair, God is still at work. Joseph's example reminds us to serve faithfully where God has placed us, trust Him even when we don't have all the answers, and keep following Him when people disappoint us. Our circumstances may not change immediately, but God is using every season to shape us for His purposes.

Joseph's journey reminds us that God is often doing His deepest work in the seasons that seem the least significant. While Joseph was a slave in a foreign land, God was developing his character, teaching faithfulness, and preparing him for a greater purpose. The lesson is simple but powerful: be faithful where God has you today, because faithfulness in the little things prepares you for God's bigger purpose tomorrow.

What do you do when you're trying to do the right thing and everything still falls apart? Joseph's story reminds us that faithfulness does not guarantee an easy life, but it does place us in the hands of a faithful God. When circumstances don't make sense, we can rest in the truth that God is working beyond what we can see, redeeming what is broken and accomplishing purposes far greater than we could imagine.

This week we began our new series on the life of Joseph, one of the Bible’s most compelling stories of faith, perseverance, and God’s providence. Growing up in a deeply dysfunctional family marked by jealousy, favoritism, and conflict, Joseph’s journey reminds us that no family is exempt from chaos, but God is faithful in the midst of it. Together we explored how jealousy can poison relationships and how what we tolerate today often shapes what we encourage tomorrow.

Every person carries a story, but true meaning is found when we recognize God as the Author shaping every chapter for His glory. We explore how God remains present in seasons of brokenness, invites us to come to Christ as we are, and uses every circumstance to form us for His purpose. Through the stories of Joseph and ultimately the cross, we are reminded that no chapter is beyond God’s redemption and that our hope is found not in a perfect storyline, but in a perfect Savior.
