That’s the system. It keeps you grounded in how photographers already see scenes while layering in just enough motion to tell a story later.

This isn’t about turning yourself into a filmmaker overnight. It’s about realizing you already know how to see moments. You just need a repeatable plan for what to capture while you’re there.

We also talk about why more cameras and bigger teams don’t automatically make you a better hybrid shooter, how intentional coverage actually improves your galleries, and the mindset shift that makes hybrid feel simple instead of overwhelming.

In this first episode of Hybrid Hangout, I’m telling the full story behind the last year of my life and business and why I’m done moving in silence. I spent way too long overthinking, spiraling about being seen, and waiting to feel ready, and this episode is really about what changed and why messy action is the only way forward.

There is also a real lesson in here. The biggest shift that has changed how I approach goals, consistency, and follow through is this: imposter syndrome asks “am I good enough?” but self confidence asks “what do people need?” If you take anything from this episode, I hope it’s that reframe.

We also get into a hot take on visibility and why most photographers are not stuck because they need more information. They are stuck because they are staying invisible behind preparation, planning, and perfectionism. Momentum only comes from doing.

This week’s episode is a big one. After two incredible years of building our education business, traveling, hosting retreats, and creating this community together, Devin is stepping away to focus on her family and her health after a really hard year personally.

We’ve always said the goal of business is to build a life you actually want — one that makes space for peace, family, and freedom — and this decision is part of that. I couldn’t be prouder of her for choosing what’s right, even when it isn’t easy.

We’re so damn proud of everything we built together — the events, the launches, the people we’ve met — and endlessly grateful for every single one of you who’s been part of this ride. Don’t worry: Devin’s not disappearing forever, and we’re already dreaming up ways to collaborate next year.
