Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name.

This hymn is a hymn of PRAISE taken straight from the PSALMS. We are so excited to bring this hymn to you all this week. The original German words were by Joachim Neander and we only know this hymn because of English translator Catherine Winkworth. She translated Neander's text almost 200 years after he wrote it.
This hymn has truly stood the test of time and has crossed languages and borders. Please sing along and let's praise our Lord, our Almighty King of Creation together.

Stump the Twins! This hymn is definitely one that not only stumped us, but it seemed to stump the whole internet!
We could not find a recording of this hymn anywhere. We had never heard of it and were determined to bring light to this little-known hymn and honor the hymn writer, Thoro Harris, for his incredible contributions to church music.
This hymn came in as a request from the creator of A Hymn A Day, Ashley. She brought this hymn to our attention and we hope we did it justice. You can find Ashley on Instagram (@hymn.a.day) and on Facebook (A Hymn A Day). Follow her to get lovely, inspiring stories about the hymns EVERY DAY!

We are diving into the hymn of confession this week, Whiter Than Snow, by James Nicholson and William Fischer. Inspired right from Psalm 51, this song is a beautiful prayer, a longing for cleansing and wholeness. We pray that this episode will be a blessing to you all.

We love our friends on social media! This request came in from a Twitter follower and it's a totally BRAND NEW hymn for us. Could this be a new game of... Stump the Twins? You really stumped us with this one. Not only did we not know this song, but we had never heard of it nor the hymn writer.
Join us this week as we dive into the Eastern Gate. What is it? Where is it? What does it symbolize? What was the hymnwriter Isaiah Guyman Martin thinking when he wrote it?
