“The Justins”

The search for truth is something mankind has been doing since the world began.  Today, two young adults share their search for truth, and how their desire to find Christ, led them to conversion into His church.  Each young adult has a unique story to share, as well as an intertwined friendship.  Enjoy this episode as Michelle Burk talks with Justin Kase and Justin Lee. 

Amber Irvine is a licensed professional counselor, single mother, and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She speaks about the roller coaster of life’s journey and how the Savior is always present along the way. She is an eternal believer in hope and a tool for the Lord to spread that message to others.

Ryan Butler is currently serving as the Stake President of the Nampa Idaho YSA Stake.  Professionally, he teaches youth and young adults in seminary and institute classes in the treasure valley during the week.  Now, with the formation of an additional YSA stake, he leads as he motivates, inspires and gathers young adults under his watch.  President Butler is an inspired man, leading like the Savior as he changes lives one at a time.  

Nicolette McKinlay, a writer for “How Does She” shares her story from growing up in Parker, Idaho to living a full and busy life as a wife, Mother of 4, and entrepreneurial businesswoman.  She loves the Lord and lets Him direct her journey, one day, one little moment at a time. 

We have the privilege of talking with Craig Spjute. He graduated from Boise State in 1987 and started teaching seminary at Meridian and Boise High. By 1991 he was asked to direct the Institute choir. This was the start of his journey with the Institute program. The choir which started with just 15 young adults, grew and became a decade worth of performances, musicals, and a program loved by the whole valley. In 1998 Brother Spjute started the first summer of the Boise youth Spectacular. Through Institute, stake, and then area support, this summer youth camp grew and blessed the lives of youth and young adults for over a decade in Boise Idaho. In 2012, Craig Spjute became the Institute Director and continued to teach, love, and bless the lives of young adults. His passion for the program, combined with his love of the Savior, is evident in the amazing things he has accomplished in his life.

2022 was the first summer for FSY—which stands for: “For the Strength of Youth Camps” put on by the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints. During June, July, and August, youth across North America traveled by stakes to various University Campuses for a one-week spiritual experience.  Through group activities, games, dances, devotionals, and classes, youth found various ways to help them connect with heaven and draw closer to their Savior Jesus Christ.  In this episode, Michelle Burk (who served as a session director herself) interviews two other session directors, Brother Ryan Butler and Brother Tom Lundgren about their experiences and perspectives concerning this wonderful new opportunity for our youth and young adults.
