 Every page soaked in tears somehow still carried hope.
 And right in the margins—where explanations ran out—
 there He was.

Holding you together when you were unraveling.
 Covering you when you didn’t even know how to pray.
 Lifting you when the fall should’ve finished you.

Proverbs 4:7 tells us,

"Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding."

Then Jesus says in Matthew 11:15,

"He who has ears to hear, let him hear."

Now wait a minute.

Jesus wasn't talking to deaf people.

He was talking to people whose ears worked just fine... but whose understanding didn't.

There is a difference between hearing words and understanding meaning.

Can I tell you something this morning?

One of the greatest obstacles to wisdom isn't ignorance.

It's selective hearing.

This morning, God is saying:

“Pull up your receipts.”

Go back and remember—

• That time He made a way out of no way
• That moment He healed what doctors couldn’t explain
• That season He kept you when you should’ve lost your mind
• That door He opened when you didn’t even qualify

You’ve got receipts.

The Bible says in Psalm 77 that when the psalmist was overwhelmed, he said:

“I will remember the deeds of the Lord… I will remember your miracles of long ago.”

In other words:

“I’m going to audit my memory, I will renew my faith with the receipt I have.”

Christians, skeptics, and atheists all have one thing in common: we're getting God wrong. Not a little wrong — comfortably wrong. Somewhere along the way, most of us traded the God who is for a god we could live with: one sized to our schedule, shaped by our wounds, and edited by our politics.

In this episode, we name the gods we've quietly built and bowed to — the Vending Machine God, the God With No Backbone, the Bouncer We Bribe, and the Mascot God on the believer's side; the Sky Tyrant, the Silent Villain, and the Enemy of the Mind on the skeptic's side. We sit with Job's whirlwind encounter, unpack why "cheap grace" isn't really grace at all, and ask why evil in the world doesn't disprove God so much as assume Him. Then we turn to who God actually is — not the god any of us would have invented, but the one who reveals Himself anyway.

If we’re being honest, some of us have been held hostage by our “I need” lists for so long, we’ve forgotten what a real need even looks like.

We say:

• “I need this job or I don’t know how I am going to make it.”
  
  
  
• “I need a man or I’m going to die single.”
  
  
  
• “I need a woman or I’m going to lose my mind.”
  
  
  

No, beloved… You want that job.
You desire that relationship.
You hope that woman soothes your cravings.

But you won’t die without it. You might sulk a little. You might even cry and play your favorite sad playlist. But baby, you will live.

See, the enemy loves to convince us that our desires are needs, and THEN we start negotiating our dignity, our peace, and our God-given discernment just to chase after them.
