In this latest edition of 'I Bought a Mountain' the forward is written by Patrick Barkham, a nature historian and Thomas Firbank-Superfan. He synthesises the beauty of the book ad "The profound fulfilment and freedom both author and his wife found in hard labour in a place where they enjoyed meaningful relationships with all its inhabitants remains deeply inspiring to us today."
In Chapter 1 'The Purchase' Thomas takes us through his first visit to Dyffryn, to buy the welsh sheep farm from a retiring farmer. Along with Thomas we dive into the deep-end of an incredible and wholly alien culture which Thomas rapidly begins to make his own. His philosophy and skill in cultural assimilation is a wonderful example of learning and personal growth, that we all can learn from.
