For so many of us, especially those who have built an identity around being capable, productive, and dependable, rest can feel uncomfortable - even threatening. In this episode, I share my own journey of burnout, the hospitalization that forced me to redefine success, and why the part of me that was always "on" needed permission to finally step back.

We'll explore the hidden beliefs that keep us overperforming, the fears that surface when we slow down, and how reclaiming rest creates space for other parts of ourselves to come alive - our creativity, joy, curiosity, softness, and playfulness.

I'll also introduce a simple practice you can begin today: creating an "off-duty" block for the part of you that's been carrying too much for too long. Because rest isn't the opposite of ambition - it's what makes a meaningful, sustainable life possible.

For years, buying myself flowers every Sunday was my ritual - a simple reminder that I didn't need anyone else's permission to celebrate myself, care for myself, or choose beauty in my own life. But one painful moment completely changed what that ritual meant.

In this first episode of The Reclamation Season, I share the story behind the argument that left me questioning the parts of myself I believed were too messy to be loved. For so long, I convinced myself that my anger made me unworthy, but that day I realized something that transformed not only my self-love ritual but my relationship with myself.

Because buying myself flowers was never really about the flowers.

It was about learning to extend compassion to the parts of myself I had spent years criticizing, hiding, and trying to fix. 

Together, we'll explore where our beliefs about being "too much" come from, why those beliefs deserve to be questioned, and how reclaiming the parts we've rejected can become the deepest form of self-care.

Choosing one part of yourself you've labeled as "too much," "messy," or "unlovable." Write that part a letter reminding it that it is worthy of love, then honor it with a small act of care - whether that's buying yourself flowers or simply giving that part the compassion it's been waiting for.

As we approach the new year, I want to share a different perspective on preparation, one that doesn't revolve solely around setting goals.

In this episode I share 5 things that I've been doing that have helped me to close out 2023 with more clarity and less stress, while also setting me up for success in 2024.

1. Declutter your physical space, including clothes, physical items, emails, apps on your phone, voicemails, text messages, and photos.

2. Throw away expired items in your medicine cabinet, pantry, fridge, skincare, and makeup.

3. Book dentist, doctor, therapy, and eye doctor appointments, as well as other necessary check-ups.

4. Make time for your relationships by prioritizing spending time with loved ones and deepening your relationship with yourself.

5. Lean into self-care by prioritizing hydration, rest, boundaries, and nourishing foods.

It's December 2023 and I want to shift our focus from the conventional hustle to finishing the year aligned with our values. Through this episode, I'll share my journey of navigating through times when I felt completely out of alignment, and the profound impact this had on my overall well-being.

We often chase goals and milestones, thinking that's what success looks like. But what if the real success lies in harmony with our values?

In this episode, I talk about the importance of recognizing when something doesn't feel right and how making conscious choices to prioritize alignment can drastically reduce stress, enhance our relationships, and lead to better decision-making.

One of the most moving moments of my life was at a retreat where I had the opportunity to identify my core values. This experience brought me to tears, as I realized these values were not something I'd previously given much importance to. Yet, they were the keys to unlocking a more authentic, fulfilling way of thinking, behaving, and being.

Over the past five weeks, my commitment to practicing yoga at least five days a week has not only sculpted my body but has also profoundly reshaped my soul.

The physical benefits, including weight loss and increased strength, have been evident. However, it's the emotional and spiritual renewal that has left an indelible mark on my life. Navigating through a tumultuous period, yoga has become my sanctuary, teaching me to find solace in discomfort. Whether I am contorting into a challenging pose or confronting the ebbs and flows of life, this practice has transformed me into a more grounded, resilient individual, less swayed by external chaos.

As I delve deeper into self-awareness, I've come to a profound realization - I am not broken. I am in a continuous state of healing. Recognizing and acknowledging the areas that need mending has been liberating. The strength I've cultivated—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually—through yoga has given me the courage to sit with my most trying emotions without feeling inundated.

Opening up further, I share a recent discovery: my battle with high-functioning depression. A cloud that loomed over me for two years, making me feel detached from my essence. Yet, yoga has been that beacon, guiding me toward confronting my discomforts and seizing opportunities for growth and healing.

When faced with moments of unease, breathe through it. Trust in the process. 

Burnout is more than just a product of a packed schedule; it's a manifestation of the beliefs we hold about ourselves. By addressing these beliefs and using tools like the EDA Model, we can navigate our way out of burnout, leading lives that are fulfilling, balanced, and aligned with our true selves. Remember, it's not about doing more; it's about doing what truly matters.
