Made on a budget that looks like it couldn’t even afford a shoestring, Be My Cat is a film that hinges on the remarkable and unsettling performance of it’s lead Actor/writer/filmmaker/editor and overall Jack-of-all trades, Adrian Tofei. While anybody could make this movie, it’s a rare gem to be as effective at getting under your skin as this movie is. Plus, we learn about proper Chloroforming techniques; Why you should never give YouTube your money, and we ask the question on the tips of everyones tongue.. Just who is this podcast for!? No notes here folks. From the commanding performance by Elliot Page, to the jarring and memorable cinematography and editing of this film; Hard Candy is a movie you won’t forget. Unnerving, tense, you’ll be sweating almost as much as our pedophile co-lead in the film does! Plus, discussions on this films relevant conversation towards abuse and how it’s (sadly) still fitting 20 years later, one of the most dynamic uses of color use in a film we’ve seen, and damn the Academy for ignoring a lead performance like this!

I mean, kind of but not really. Mainly this is a film based around the tagline “If you thought the first one was fucked up.. wait til you get a load of this!” And boy does it go there. Also discussed on todays episode is the importance of beer during the collapse of modern society, the shameful lack of penis shown in this “unrated” film, and how there are not bad centipedes, just bad centipede owners. Today we’re diving into the fart joke and zany acting filled pool of turn of the century comedy that is 2000’s “Big Money Hustlas”, written by and staring none other than the Insane Clown Posse. It’s not all bad though, some of the moments in this film genuinely worked for us, though I still don’t think we’ll be diving back into Juggalo Cinema anytime soon. On this weeks episode we’re closing out the month of February and our “Japanese War Crimes” theme by flipping the narrative and looking at the effects of war crimes done to Japan with the 1988 animated film “Grave of the Fireflies”. If Seasonal depression has been hitting you extra hard lately, this movie won’t help one bit because boy was this a sad one! Join us as we marvel at one of the lesser known Studio Ghibli films; but a Ghibli film no less. This movie is full of stunning animation, heartfelt and  relatable characters, and food, food, oh such delicious looking food! That being said, it’s still a film following two children who amble through the desolation of war in Japan. My Neighbor Totoro this is not. But much like this podcast itself; through the muck this film has its moments of joy along the way.
