I mean, kind of but not really. Mainly this is a film based around the tagline “If you thought the first one was fucked up.. wait til you get a load of this!” And boy does it go there. Welcome to the Gathering my Juggalos and Juggalettes. Today we’re diving into the fart joke and zany acting filled pool of turn of the century comedy that is 2000’s “Big Money Hustlas”, written by and staring none other than the Insane Clown Posse. Join us as we dive into the world of ICP and their fans as we try to figure out what audience this movie is for? (Not us..) Does ICP think they’re making a good movie, or were they just happy to be working. It’s not all bad though, some of the moments in this film genuinely worked for us, though I still don’t think we’ll be diving back into Juggalo Cinema anytime soon. On this weeks episode we’re closing out the month of February and our “Japanese War Crimes” theme by flipping the narrative and looking at the effects of war crimes done to Japan with the 1988 animated film “Grave of the Fireflies”. If Seasonal depression has been hitting you extra hard lately, this movie won’t help one bit because boy was this a sad one! Join us as we marvel at one of the lesser known Studio Ghibli films; but a Ghibli film no less. This movie is full of stunning animation, heartfelt and  relatable characters, and food, food, oh such delicious looking food! That being said, it’s still a film following two children who amble through the desolation of war in Japan. My Neighbor Totoro this is not. But much like this podcast itself; through the muck this film has its moments of joy along the way. This month we’re diving into the history books as we’re kicking of our double feature on Japanese War Crimes with the 1988 exploitation horror film “Men Behind The Sun”. This one’s all bad folks, as we dip into one of the darkest parts of World War 2 in a film about the atrocities committed at Unit 731. But don’t worry, we still find a way to have fun, discussing what’s the worst way to die at Unit 731, musing how the budget of this film went to all those live rats, and stay tuned til the end as we discuss the secret health tips of Dave Grohl! Disclaimer, you don’t actually need to take drugs to enjoy this movie; between the hypnotic performances of the cast and the absolutely unhinged cinematography, you’ll feel like your descending into madness all from the comfort of your own home! On this weeks episode we’ve gone full Ahab as we watched Darren Aronofsky’s 2022 drama, “The Whale”. Acknowledging right off the bat the… whale… in the room, we loved the starring performance; and return to the hearts of us all by the films lead Brendan Fraser. Accompanied by an amazing supporting performance by Hong Chau who doesn’t leave a dry eye in the house, overall the acting get’s big praise from us. Join us as we also discuss what we feel this film is trying to do with telling this story and casting an actor like Fraser in this role. Along with that, we discuss generally how much of a pleasure it is to see Fraser  light up the screen with his gentle yet commanding performance, what would we have done with $100K when we were 16 years old, and the unique depiction of self-harm in the movie. This and more on “I Didn’t Need to See That!”
