This week we're talking about a bit of a heavier topic... how grief is god damn lonely.
If you've ever experienced a tragic loss or the death of a loved one, you'd understand that it feels like the loneliest feeling in the entire world, and that no one truly understands you.
After losing my older brother unexpectedly in 2022, grief became my reality. My world was quickly flooded with pain, sadness, anger and loneliness. In a society that choose to turn a blind eye to grief and loss, there are limited conversations, resources and support for those that are grieving.
In this episode, we talk about how it feels to grieve someone you lost, how everyone will experience death in one way or another, how it seems like everyone leaves your life, people pretend like your loss didn't happen, how grief makes you isolate, it makes everyone super uncomfortable, how you start to resent others while they tiptoe around you, why everyone handles grief differently, how it changes all of the dynamics of your relationships, and how life just simply goes on. We end the episode talking about how you can show up and support someone who's grieving, how to take care of yourself and grow with your grief, and finally, that despite all of this, you're not actually as lonely as you think.
P.S. this episode is for everyone– even if you haven't been through this yet, I really hope that you stay for this conversation. It's so important that we normalize talking about grief, loss, and how to support & show up for those around us. It would mean the world to me, and others who are grieving, for you to stay and listen.
Let me know your thoughts on this topic– I would love to hear what you think and about your experiences!
