The curious world of Albert Fish is not a tale for the feint at heart. Fish was a sadistic killer that felt nothing when he killed. He thought the taking of young lives was normal, like an everyday activity, like walking in the park.
His madness stemmed from a very jaded up bringing, filled with abuse, physical emotion and sexual. Added to his own psychopathy, Fish was on a path from a young age to offend. Lack of resources and forensics challenged the authorities in trying to apprehend Fish. Remember, these killings were through the first world ward and during the Spanish Influenza outbreaks, which is not mentioned in any of the narratives I have research. Not only would this give Fish a certain level of anonymity during these times coupled with his age, how would anyone think this genial old guy would be America’s most sadistic killer. Post-war, there was a glut of disabled servicemen that had no job or fixed abode giving Fish an even bigger victim pool. Then the flu, which has a footnote in history, even in all the material that I accessed, had no mention of the flu. Considering the amount of people that died, it’s vector and spread. The world was gripped with a very high death toll. In those years, the world seems a very different place, very similar to now.
I added the flu to the short story that you can access on Patreon because I think at the time Grace went missing, the flu would have impacted the Budd family.

Hey, thanks for choosing to hit play on the podcast I Hate This Book.

I say early in the podcast that the podcast isn’t that bad, but there’s some violence that might touch the squeamish and I forgot about that as I was reading it. Sam pointed out a few times that I said that there was no violence, anyway. Kick back and enjoy chapter 20 of my book the Harvester.

Wow, nearly 2/3 through the book and boy hasn’t Sam been through the ringer on this book. Some parts she has loved, others… not so much. He we meet Orlov, the sex club owner and the self-appointed kingpin of the sex under world in London. He’s as seedy as they come, but might turn out to be an excellent ally… or not!

This is a great chapter, making the plot of the book even thicker and more gripping, adding a dimension to the story is something that I do best. The dwarf strippers might have been a step too far for Sam though.

The first thing that Joseph Metheny said when he was arrested, ‘I’m a very sick person’.

Fancy saying this to police when they came to arrest him.

You would think the killing and dismembering of his victims who were prostitutes and tramps was pretty heinous because that is, but no, he goes one step further. But this wasn’t the worst. He disposed of these victims in burgers and sold them at the side of the road.

Back in the operating theatre of Brocs layer, the last throws of removing Lucys organs. Broc is aware of the growing issue back in London and knows that he is going to have to get up there and deal with it. 

During the dissection, I won’t spoil it, but there’s a spoon involved.
