Hey CheckMates, it’s Check Edgar here! 

This episode starts with me in bed, dreaming of food because I’m fasting. Only for one loud Lagos bus horn to drag me back to reality. I look out the window, and boom… a moving truck. A new tenant. My dad did mention someone was coming, but I didn’t know it would be her. 

Her name is Ada. Pretty. Glasses. Smart. Funny. The kind of neighbour you immediately start planning fake landlord lines for in your head. I went down to say hello, tried to act smooth… and still managed to fumble it. Didn’t even collect her number when she basically gave me a cue. Pain. 

Just when I’m replaying the whole thing in my head, Collins calls. If you know Collins, you know the drama: stingy, unserious with women, and always reminding me of the ₦25k I owe him. 

This episode is full of Lagos chaos, noisy horns, nosy neighbours, my internal monologues, and me trying (and failing) to act like I have game. It’s just the beginning of a three-part story: I Like My Neighbour, I Love My Neighbour, and maybe… I marry My Neighbour.
