I Liked the Book Better

Lise and Kolleen take a look at House of Sand and Fog, a novel published in 1999 by Andre Dubus III and made into the 2003 film directed by Vadim Perelman and written by Vadim Perelman and Shawn Lawrence Otto.

Lise and Kevin talk about The Perks of Being a Wallflower, the YA book written by Stephen Chbosky and published in 1991, made into the 2012 film written and directed by Stephen Chbosky.

Lise and Kevin go over Kevin’s all-time favorite noir movie – 1947’s Out of the Past, directed by Jacques Tourneur, based on the 1946 book Build My Gallows High by Daniel Mainwaring (writing as Geoffrey Homes), who also wrote the screenplay.

Lise and Kolleen get all fangirly over Let the Right One In, written by John Ajvide Lindqvist and published in Sweden in 2004, translated into English and published in the United States in 2008. Lise and Kevin take on “All You Zombies,” a short story written by Robert A. Heinlein in 1959, and made into the 2015 movie Predestination, directed by Michael and Robert Spierig and written by the Spierigs and Robert A. Heinlein. 

Lise and Kevin wrap up their discussion of The Lord of the Rings with Return of the King, written by J. R. R. Tolkien and published in 1955, and adapted for the screen in 2003 in a film directed by Peter Jackson and written by Philippa Boyens, Fran Walsh and Peter Jackson. 

Lise and special guest Kolleen Carney Hoepfner talk about We Need to Talk About Kevin, written by Lionel Shriver and published in 2003, and made into the 2011 movie directed by Lynne Ramsay and written for the screen by Lynne Ramsay, Lionel Shriver and Rory Kinnear.
