February 06, 2019 A full life of public service with Ron Cannan
Ron Cannan (Ron-Cindy Cannan) grew up in Edmonton and in January, 1990 set out to start a new chapter in life in Kelowna.
Ron was elected as Member of Parliament for Kelowna-Lake Country from 2006-15. He is only 1 of 3 MPs not in cabinet to serve on the Treasury Board Sub-Committee on Government Administration, and as such he became entitled to the title "Honourable" as a member of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada for life.
Prior to heading to Ottawa, Ron served 9 years (3 terms) on Kelowna City Council. During this time, he also served as a director for the Central Okanagan Regional District/Hospital District Board, 5 years on the executive of the Okanagan Mainline Municipal Association (including 2 years as President) plus 2 years as Director of UBCM Executive.
He also has been active in various community/service organizations including Rotary, Kelowna Chamber of Commerce Board and the newly formed Kelowna Foundation (1st project is establishing a Child Advocacy Centre in Kelowna).
Ron is a free enterpriser with a social conscience. He is passionate about community, connecting people & serving with integrity! Ron and his wife Cindy have 3 adult daughters & 5 grandchildren. Willow Park Church member where Ron enjoys playing his drums. Hobbies are cycling/hiking/reading. Life motto is; faith, family, friends and fun!

Mark Tompkins is one of our rare guests who was born and raised in Kelowna. We talk about the many changes our city has seen, and all about digital marketing. Mark has a very interesting past including creating the very successful Trailer Park Boys App and Board Game, working as Marketing and Communications Specialist with the City of Kelowna, and managed events like Wakefest, Centre of Gravity and so on. Brent was born in Victoria, BC and after being in various cities for post secondary schooling and my baseball career he now calls Kelowna his home. Brent is an athlete, singer/songwriter and the owner of a creative business brand called Axl + Grit (Instagram). He enjoy all aspects of storytelling – acting, modelling, and performing on stage. His goal is to help motivate others (all age groups) to follow their own paths by pursuing lives of creativity and fulfilment. We discuss our mutual love of baseball and music, and Brent's giant ambitions for his life and career.

Earth to Table Vegan Market was founded in November 2017 by Allison Staten and Cassandra McFarland. As they were both newly vegan – and had experienced their fair share of struggles! – they wanted to create an event that supported others within our community as well as create a “one stop shop” for those looking to acquire vegan goods. Allison and Casandra's goal is to create a space which encourages a cruelty free and sustainable way of living by bringing together local plant-based vendors. Each market showcases products ranging from food to cosmetics and personal care products.
