Our look at films to celebrate the holiday season continues as we watch and discuss a movie widely considered to be one of the worst ever made, 1964's Santa Claus Conquers the Martians! Intended as a sci fi children's film to provide an alternative to Disney films, this off beat curiousity is a must-see for any lover of bad cinema. Firmly nestled into "so bad it's good" territory, Derek and Sam have a special affection for this one, and once you hear what they have to say, you might find yourself wondering if, indeed, "Voldar was right!"

It's December, and that means Derek and Sam will be looking at some seasonal films! No one loves a good Christmastime movie like the gang at ILOM, but will this would-be classic wind up making their list of favourites? Don Defore and Victor Moore carry this curious film, which features a message that might just resonate with audiences today! Check it out and see what we thought!
Also, our 20th Episode is soon approaching and we are going to have some guests, so please give them a listen (or 5)!

To close off our all-war movie month of November, we take a close look at the man that was a greater action hero in real life than most actors are in their movies. The legendary Audie Murphy and his autobiographical performance in To Hell and Back tell a tale of heroism, bravado, loyalty, and courage the likes of which have to be seen to be believed! The heroism was real, but is it a good movie? Listen and find out what we thought.
Plus! As an added bonus for this episode, podcaster Phillip Kesterton of "Above and Beyond" joins us to tell us a bit about Audie Murphy, the man. Phillips show focuses on tales of battlefield heroism, so this seemed a natural time to collaborate with him. We're big fans of his, and couldn't be happier with how it worked out. Please go give him a listen, and tell him the gang at ILOM sent you!

Sam and Derek can't believe it took them this long to get to a Humphrey Bogart film, but now that they have, it's worth the wait! Telling the tale of an outnumbered, rag-tag group of allied soldiers protecting a desert well from a large cohort of German Afrika Corps, Sahara was the first film that Bogie made for Columbia after become a huge star in a series of Warner films. Great action, performances and cinematography reward the viewer of this film! Have a listen and hear what the ILOM gang thought!
This episode's cold open is from special guest DAVE BECKER! Dave is a very accomplished and renowned podcaster and you can hear his work at:

Our month-long look at war movies continues, and for our Remembrance Day release, we are looking at the greatest anti-war film of all time, the 1930 version of All Quiet on the Western Front. Derek has seen this film many times over the years and has always wanted to watch it with Sam. This was her first viewing, and the impact is has on her is substantial. Join us for a close look at this timeless and endlessly relevant film, and if you've seen it, be sure to let us know what you think!
So, we are looking at war movies for the month of November, and we are starting off with a doozy! Combining the star power of Burt Lancaster and Clark Gable, AND the sublime directing of Robert Wise, this submarine film is a one of a kind viewing experience. Find out what Derek and Sam though about this one! Is this a classic example of "The Burt Lancaster Paradox"? Should you give it a watch? Does Sam love war movies more than she loves westerns? Give a listen and find out!

Picking up moments where 1931's Dracula left off, this worthy sequel brings a lot of new dimensions to the cinematic vampire mythology. Derek and Sam take a good look at the last film of ILOM's scary movie October, and have some interesting thoughts about the use of comedy in the film as well as the curious aspects of it's production. If you like vampires, or movies, or movies about vampires, then this could be the episode for you! Check it out!
All scary October continues at ILOM with this look at the Hammer classic....but does it hold up? With a Technicolor presentation, revenge-driven supernatural murders, and many long, long expository scenes, there is a lot to consider! Derek and Sam share all their thoughts and aren't in a punch-pulling mood! Be sure to check this one out! Special guest cold open this week, too!
