Ketan Makwana, Founder of Youth Enterprise Live.

Ketan is a serial entrepreneur who since being made redundant in 2009 has gone on to start 4 businesses – Enterprise Lab, Medzooma, SMARK-IT and Ketan Makwana Consulting Ltd – 2 of which are international and 1 of which he sold after just 6 months.As a speaker, mentor and business advisor Ketan has appeared on numerous TV/radio shows and has written for many business publications. With a particular passion for developing the enterprise, intraprenuership and employability skills of young people Ketan co-founded Enterprise Lab in 2011 which delivers 10 week incubator programmes in schools, colleges, universities and communities. He is also the founder of Youth Enterprise Live, the UK’s largest 2 day event for young people focussing on education, enterprise and employability which will take place in London in October 2012.

Episode Nine

Charlotte Hill, Chief Executive of UK Youth.

Charlotte started her career working for Richard Burden MP in Birmingham before moving onto work for the Rt. Hon. Harriet Harman QC MP in Westminster over a number of years.  She went on to become Parliamentary Advisor for the national UK charity the NSPCC.  She worked in Australia before joining UK Youth in 2008 as Head of Advocacy & Communications.  She became Chief Executive at UK Youth in 2010.

Adam Nichols

Adam began his career living out of a suitcase as a Community Organiser in some of the most deprived parts of Britain.  He moved on to roles at the National Union of Students, where he was responsible for skills development and employability, and CRAC (the career development organisation) where he set up an international accreditation scheme for work experience.

Adam joined Changemakers as Chief Executive in 2004. He is a prominent and widely respected speaker, writer and influencer and has helped to shape many of the key youth and education policy developments of recent years including the rollout of citizenship and enterprise education in schools, the establishment of v (the National Young Volunteers Service), National Citizen Service and the government’s new Positive for Youth strategy published in December 2011.  He has advised both the current and previous Prime Ministers on youth policy.

Adam holds non-executive directorships at a diverse range of organisations including the General Teaching Council, Platform 51, Isledon Arts, UnLtd and Harpenden Free School.  He is a member of the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Adam lives in Hertfordshire with his wife and daughter. Away from the day job, he is Artistic Director of St Albans based theatre company OVO and a passionate supporter of Liverpool Football Club. He is often seen crooning in high class and low rent karaoke bars across London.
