There are many tropes that have endured for the ages, but none quite so popular as the Dead Mom Phenomenon. Everywhere we look in films, books, TVs shows, etc. moms are dropping like flies. Em is joined once again by two lovely motherless mongrels, Carly and Farleigh to breakdown why moms are such easy targets in fiction, talk about our favorite fictional moms, and of course, get off topic at least a few times.

For our first episode of 2023, I Ship It's went coast-to-coast like butter on toast with Carly and Farleigh joining Em to bring three time zones together to talk about everyone's favorite vampire with a soul...and also a little bit about Angel. That's right, we're going on a deep dive about that bleach-blonde menace, The Big Bad himself: Spike.

A million years ago, we had something call the Cringe Binge. This is the opposite of that. No more hiding our cringe in shame. Nothing matters and we're adults who like things. Join us for a celebration of no longer being burdened by the opinons of others and getting out there (into the internet) and writing/reading literally whatever the hell you want. Go on, get cringey. It's our gift to you this holiday season.

We can all agree that Nancy Wheeler did not start out as anyone's favorite, right? Our new friend, Farleigh joins us to discuss the Wheeler's eldest child and a whole bunch of other things, like how by season four, she's more than made up for her whiney fifteen year-old introduction and has turned into a shotgun-sawing, monster-slaying, genuine bad. ass. And definitely deserving of a better storyline than a tired-ass love triangle that we all thought was settled by the end of the second season.

Once upon a time, Marvel and the MCU created characters (both good and bad) who were all pretty much, under the surface, redeemable figures. They said "Bad guys are just misunderstood good guys and if we can't make you love a character we can at least make you sympathize with them by showing you how they were tormented by the evil Nazi regime that's at the heart of all the bad stuff in this universe." And we were like, "Yeah, fine. Cool. I'm on board." And then somewhere along the line, the PTB decided that the message they really wanted to put across was that everything bad that happens to you is your fault and your trauma is something that you need to apologize for. And V and Emily were like, "Huh-uh. Not on our watch." Basically, we're not super stoked about Thunderbolts, alright?

Amazingly enough, Em and Doc managed to record this second part sooner than 3 years from the time they recorded the first! Join us as we talk about the best and the rest when it comes to the 2nd part of sequels, the importance of maintaining consistency, and listen as the tea vs. espresso/coffee debate rages on.
