Although grief is extremely individualistic, it’s compounded with internal and external expectations of how a person should behave when it happens to them. In Britney’s case, her father’s death felt confusing and repetitive after he’d left her life when she was a child; long before his passing in 2015. The rigid boundary that Britney had created from him dissolved in a simple phone call from an estranged aunt, forcing her to relive his loss all over again.
