I Want To Rewatch episodes

  • Season 1, Episode 11: "Eve"

    Things just keep getting weirder.

A man is murdered by exsanguination and the only witness is his 8-year-old daughter. Mulder thinks there may be a connection to the exsanguination of cows across the country, which are often tied to UFO phenomena. Then a second murder done using the same method across the country sends Mulder and Scully searching for answers.

    Blood-sucking aliens?

    Vampires?

    Or...

  • Season 1, Episode 10: "Fallen Angel"

    Alpha Team is in position...

When Deep Throat gives him information about a suspicious crash in Wisconsin that might be an alien spaceship, Mulder has 24 hours to get there before the site is sanitized and there’s no evidence left. He runs off to find his UFO and Scully is sent after him to bring him back for an inquest about the X-files, but Mulder is determined to stay and find the truth.

Because the truth is out there, and it might actually involve aliens...

  • Season 1, Episode 9: "Space"

Travel with us, back to a time when the U.S. government (sort of) supported manned space exploration...

When a NASA employee comes to Mulder and Scully with the suspicion that someone at NASA is sabotaging the shuttle launches, they head to mission control in Houston to figure out who, if anyone, is the imposter.

    Maybe it’s an alien?

    Or a ghost?

    Or...

A crew drilling ice cores near the Arctic Circle drops all contact with the outside world after a disturbing final transmission. Mulder and Scully, along with a small crew, go up to find out what happened. It seems they might have pulled something sinister out of the ice…

  • Season 1, Episode 7: "Ghost in the Machine"

Funnily enough, this episode is not about the album by The Police, nor about Cartesian mind-body dualism… weird.

Instead, when a man is killed in a smart building under mysterious circumstances, a former partner of Mulder’s comes to him for help. The most obvious suspect is the company’s disgruntled computer genius founder, who might have used the company’s smart operating system to commit murder. Mulder and Scully need to figure out if this scruffy programmer is an evil genius or if his AI has a life of its own.

We know it’s totally reverse-engineered alien technology, right?

  • Season 1, Episode 6: “Shadows”

NOTE: This episode of The X-Files (and so also this episode of I Want To Rewatch) includes discussion of suicide.

After a young woman’s boss dies by suicide, other deaths and strange phenomena seem to follow her. Mulder and Scully are brought in by another agency to look at corpses exhibiting strange behavior. They appear to have been strangled without anyone touching their necks. Mulder posits it's the work of telekinesis. Scully is not convinced.

    Because she thinks it’s aliens!

    (Not really.)

  • Season 1, Episode 5: “The Jersey Devil”

    The X-Files

Season 1, Episode 5: “The Jersey Devil”

Scully goes on a date, and Mulder is all about the naked ladies (for work, really).

Also, when a body is found in the woods of New Jersey with a missing arm that appears to have been eaten off by human teeth, Mulder proposes it’s the work of the infamous Jersey Devil (#NotMyJerseyDevil). Mulder and Scully go to Atlantic City to try and investigate but the local cops don’t want them there. Could it really be aliens that crashed in the woods and are just trying to survive…? Could it?

  • Season 1, Episode 4: “Conduit”

    The X-Files

    Season 1, Episode 4: “Conduit”
    Two hosts. Two mics.

When a teen goes missing near Lake Okobogee, a UFO hotspot, Mulder wants to investigate. Blevins and Scully are both skeptical. Mulder argues the case is important because of UFO sightings from 1967 where a girl scout troop had a close encounter. And it turns out the mother of the missing teen was one of those girl scouts.

  • Season 1, Episode 3: “Squeeze”

    The X-Files

    Season 1, Episode 3: “Squeeze”
    The third time's the charm…
Unless you record an entire episode from the wrong mic!

After a series of murders that happen in closed rooms with no known point of entry where the victim’s livers are torn out, Scully’s old friend from the Academy asks for her help on the case. She tells Mulder about it, and he pulls out an X-Files about a series of similar murders… from 60 years ago. And another series from 30 years ago. Mulder is convinced it’s one perpetrator, and the other FBI guys mock him for being “out there”. Because, you know…

    It might be aliens.

    Recorded: 30 August 2020
