The show is called I Want You To Know is a show where I interview artists, actors, archivists, and folks with niche knowledge where we discuss taste, creative choices, and their passion for whatever subject they’re obsessed with…and the link between passion and taste.

So, normally I book guests and have then I ask them to send me ten to twelve songs, and it forces me to see how much I know about their particular genre of music, their flavor, or vibe…for lack of better term the playlist often serves as a mix-tape to our convo, nearly always elevating the conversation. And it serves as a conversation starter. But often it’ll lead to a new convo. Example last week my guest Hashemi played the Beatles which lead to a discussion to their place in pop culture today, and our own personal take on them, Hashemi unpacked our favorite Beatle, why, etc.

But, sometimes I get “I love blah blah blah”..I can’t do anything with anything. The mix should serve as an opportunity to digress, and take little side missions of our convo….and even interesting non sequiturs…so I collected some songs, and I’m going to just riff on them, share how it ties to my life now, and past…and all that.

I want you to know…just how to do my show.

During the creative process, there’s all sorts of spirits and ghosts pushing and pulling us around. Some comprised of life no longer, some made of our own matter and energy, some- “anonymous energy” swirling around. It sounds kooky, right? But, this process really is a thing…especially when it comes to music. You’re waiting for your inner voice to say "when", you’re waiting for the ethereal voices to say "go", we hear them say "come". At the end of the day (and night) it’s all about listening (to them).
