swu summer 2017, song extra credit/ make-up
This was supposed to be a cover, and it is, pretty much.
I emailed Don Mercer for his favorite words of this past season, and they just happened to be something that he and Mark Magram did (huge bonus). So, I used most of the words, added some of my own (while trying to keep the feel), and let it flow. I did not get the vocal right, but I always assume I’ll fix it later when I record the real version of the song. I am happy with the giddy-up release at the end when the 707 drum machine comes in. Tried to time correct the crap bass playing, but it actually seems to pull the song along hitting all those notes early.
lyrics:
well there’s a secret now you just can’s see it
through a crack in door been waiting quiet
and growing stronger ‘till you just can’t ignore it
and we could rage about it we could shout it
under sleep’ed and over-hours undid nothing
no time together don't do nothin’ for our lovin’
roll on over and tonight you come and see me
end the shit
we roll around
you say you need me
sometimes i fell i don’t do nothin’ for our lovin’
we’re breaking doors baby this is our summer
been waiting all year hated by lovers
relief in sight now now we have no other
give me the smallest sign and i’ll love you forever
i’ll love you forever

Tired Eyes - Mark Magram & Don Mercer - Aug, 20, 2017
Well there's a secret
You can see it
Through a crack in the door
Been waiting quiet
And growing stronger
Until you can't ignore
And we could rage about it
We could ... We could shout it out
But at the end of the day we got to figure it out
Now they're kicking down the doors
Hell - this is our summer!
We been - we been waiting a long year for relief
Can't imagine how their hate has turned into belief
'Cause there are better ways - better ways
So if you defend two sides to this - what can we expect to see next?!
Our tired eyes could use a break
Our tired eyes could use a break
...Today ...
