This is the first episode of the second season and a lot has changed over the past year, my dad passed away, the pandemic is coming to a close, and I’ve also experience countless smaller events that will forever shape my world view, but I have still yet to be showered with money from the entertainment gate keepers so here I go again! My first guest this go around is ERIC TRUNDY an accomplished stand-up comedian who has worked with well-known favorites such as Dave Attell, Doug Stanhope, and John Witherspoon his comedy is capable of mining laughs out of tragedy and treating silliness with the utmost importance. We talk briefly about television involving characters in their 2nd act so to speak and then dive into pilot I wrote for him entitled Eric Trundy Psychological Investigator.
This first bonus episode finally has a star worthy of fame...ME! My friend Josh Mahan has known me since high school where I often walked around with a lobster puppet on my hand (that's a fact about me that may or may not get incorporated. ) and all those years of knowing me inspired him to write this episode in order to help showcase my immense talent.
The last episode of the season! It took me a little bit to get this published cause I've been busy with jobs that don't involve television super stardom, but hopefully this episode will turn that around. If it doesn't I'll need to take a break to mentally swallow my sadness! My guest today is Josh Mahan a professional animator and art director who's credits include serving as the art director on Adult Swim's the Shivering Truth as well as animator on a number acclaimed short films and commercials. We talk very briefly about shows involving characters confused by the rest of society and then Journey into the future for a sci-fi adventure I wrote for him entitled JOSH 18.
Episode 9 baby! This week my guest is the Artistic Director of the Comedy Project in Grand Rapids Michigan, Joe Anderson! In addition to touring the country at Colleges and Festivals as the mastermind of the sketch comedy group "The Don't We Boys" Joe has appeared in numerous independent film favorites such as Buzzard, Living with the Fosters, and America's Most Haunted. We talk briefly about the U.K. version of the office and The Last O.G. and then ride into his pilot Joe it all.
TV hot shots are definitely gonna take notice this time! My guest is singing comedian/ actor Brian O'Sullivan a LA based performer who has performed at over 300 colleges across the country, had work featured on the sitcom "Superior Donuts", and is a contributing writer for the popular youtube channel "The Warp Zone" We go overboard on bits and then I explain to Brian his love allegories, finally we jump into the pilot I wrote for him entitled "BRIAN ON THE VINE"
Lucky number 7, unless of course numbers don't control fate...Anyways my guest this week is Jennie Stencel owner of the Idiot Box Comedy Club, Executive Producer of the North Carolina Comedy Festival, and owner/ bartender at Greensboro's newest bottle shop "Next Door" also she's been on TV before so this is my best chance yet! We talk universally loved shows as well as characters who keep you guessing and then jump into a comedy with soap opera influences.
Who needs actors! I mix things up this week with a guest who doesn't consider herself a performer but is still one of the funniest people I know. Candice Cortinas, producer for Charlotte's premier sketch group "Robot Johnson" joins me to talk briefly about shows set in small towns with a lot of heart and then we read the pilot I wrote for her entitled "DICED"
This week I continue to showcase everyone's favorite emotion of desperation! My guest is iron man of comedy slash co-owner of the Idiot Box Comedy Club Steve Lesser. We talk about his perceived nice guy demeanor and the 90s cartoon show "The Tick" then jump into a super hero epic! (which just happens to be an EXTREMELY marketable genre)
My pilot page count is approaching a feature length screenplay so I'm certain I'll break through soon. My guest this week is someone I've never performed sketch comedy with just improv! (So I'm really breaking outside of my comfort zone. Rankin Willard is a hilarious improviser at the Idiot Box Comedy Club in Greensboro NC as well as one of my personal favorite visual artists. We talk TV in which people take care of each other and then jump into a gilded age adventure!
