Former Head of the Global Shapers Community of the World Economic Forum,  Yemi developed and executed a strategy to empower youth by building the Global Shapers Community to over 450 cities in 170+ countries and territories. A brilliant and grateful leader, someone who understands the power of uniting people, making connections, and building communities. He regularly collaborates with corporations, governments, non-profit organisations, and individual leaders. Throughout his career, he has advised the head of states and businesses. He has also been teaching, coaching, and mentoring young people across the world.

In this episode, Senegalese Tech Entrepreneur Marieme Jamme spoke to  Nomzamo Mbatha, South African Award-winning Actress of the Paramount’s forthcoming Coming 2 America. She will co-star alongside Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, Jermaine Fowler, Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, and Tracy Morgan in the sequel to the 1988 comedy classic.  A UNHCR Goodwill ambassador, Nomzamo Mbatha, also represents global brands with a purpose and social mission. They both met at the UN, where they were both invited to speak alongside Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohamed. 

Nomzamo shares her journey as an actress and as a humanitarian. She has got the desire to stand her truth, help amplify the voice of the refugees, and give them visibility. She is a humble and extraordinary human being.

We spoke from her home in LA, where she is currently in quarantine.

This week Podcast episode features the first-ever conversation between Marieme Jamme and Adrian Monck from the World Economic Forum. They bonded when they both spent a week together on a learning journey in the Kakuma Refugee camp. Kakuma camp & Kalobeyei Integrated Settlement is home to nearly 200,000 refugees and asylum seekers. Adrian explains why he believes in the importance of creating safe spaces for the voiceless. He also provides an update on his personal life and how he finds peace and healing after overcoming many frustrations. Marieme Jamme caught up with Oulimata Sarr from Senegal where they both came from but with a different childhood path.

She's currently leading Women Economic Empowerment issues in West Africa and Central Africa for UN women as their Regional Director.

Oulimata is a change agent in Africa. A well-loved and respected leader. She has shown leadership in gender space through pushing for policy change and calling for the "coalition of the willing". Sarr also talks about her upbringing, the opportunity she has to have a good education. As an African, she learnt to use her influence to share knowledge,  connect agencies and mentor women so they can become economically independent in Africa and beyond.

In this special pride month episode, Marieme Jamme converses with the top, renowned Brazilian journalist, Milly Lacombe. She is well known for her straight-talking and writings. Lacombe thinks we need to cure people with love. She fights for discrimination against the LGBTQ community and all people who feel invisible. Being rejected for exploring her sexuality as a "lesbian" gives her the courage to stand up for others. Lacombe talks about courage, self-love, privilege, humanity, and tolerance. She shares what she believes in being privileged as a white person and how this can be used with responsibility for a good cause.

Young Global Leader and Japanese Buddhist monk, Shoukei Matsumoto from the Komyoji temple in Tokyo, discuss his life as a monk to Marieme Jamme. He also talked about the meaning of life and how to find a purpose in these difficult times. He sees himself as an altruist. His book: "A Monk’s Guide to a Clean House and Mind" is published by Penguin Books Ltd. Shoukei recommends adopting Buddhist concepts and practices for a more peaceful and meaningful life during this #Coronavirus period.
