  • Cornea Transplant Surgery Successful

In this episode of the iCantCU Podcast, I talk about my cornea transplant surgery and an eye issue that popped up a couple of days before it. Unlike the last cornea transplant, I found out the cause of death of this donor. I didn’t ask for it, but it was given to me anyway.

  • Trying To Get It All Done Before Surgery

In this episode of the iCantCU Podcast, I talk about going to the University of the Arts to review and give feedback of students projects on improving accessibility at the Museum of the American Revolution. I also talk about a meeting at the same museum to check out a prototype of a tactile map they’re working on and a mistake I made with Uber going home from it.

Twenty Thousand Hertz On Audio Description

My friend Dan mentioned a podcast on audio description. It is a great episode and shows how much audio described movies and tv shows mean to the blind and visually impaired. Listen here: https://www.20k.org/episodes/audio. I especially enjoyed listening to what Tommy Edison, the blind film critic, had to say on the podcast. Check him out on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/blindfilmcritic.

  • Perpetuating Low Expectations Of Blind People

In this episode of the iCantCU Podcast, I talk about finding some typos on an event page and the text exchange I had with one of the visually impaired event creators. By not fixing the errors and saying it was done by a blind person, she perpetuates the low expectations humanity has for the blind and visually impaired.

No Swearing On The Podcast. Yet

I haven’t cursed on an episode, even though my language can get pretty salty when I’m not recording. Here’s the article: https://www.the-sun.com/health/4979848/swearing-eases-pain-like-pills/

  • Changing iPhone Voicemail Greeting Without Using VoiceOver

In this episode of the iCantCU Podcast, I talk about how a simple task of updating my voicemail greeting on my iPhone took a lot longer than it should have, thanks in part to VoiceOver. I also have an update in the ongoing saga of ordering a talking bathroom scale from the Independence Market.

    Show notes at https://www.iCantCU.com/172

    Changing iPhone Voicemail Greeting

It should be easy, right? When I first recorded my greeting, I had VoiceOver turned on, so the first thing you heard in the greeting was my iPhone saying “stop.” Then you heard the greeting in my voice and then my iPhone saying “stop” at the end. That’s not what I wanted callers to hear, so I shut off VoiceOver. And that’s when the real fun began.
