Part 2 of the Eshe Interview - The Catalsyt of the Covid Chrysalis (You will hear that one again!)  In this episode, Eshe and I candidly discuss the season of self-reflection and discovery which she experienced during this year of Covid.  It was a time of healing and dealing with root issues.  We all had a butterfly experience this year in one way or another so this episode will touch on that for all of us.

Sharman’s focus in life has always been to be a resource and to be helpful to others.  Helping others has always been her main focus in life, not money. It makes her  happy to pour information, insight, and knowledge into others with the hope that what she  imparts will impact and improve their lives and situation.  She believes when you do what you were created and gifted to do by God, the provision for money and wealth can follow.

Everything she set out to do, created, or has done first started with a vision, she believed from God.  Most times He allowed her to see the end result, and she then started walking out the beginning steps in faith.  Things she tried to do that weren't part of her journey she never finished.  For example, college, having a corporate career, having foster children, and other things that were my plan, were not so much His plan for her life.  She does not regret what she hasn't finished, because those things were not for her. So the answer to the  question, what pushed her to finish?  Making sure she finished whatever vision God showed her  for whatever season she was in her life, until she was shown the next thing to finish.  Obedience to God pushes her.

Sharman says that to flourish means to grow.  That may mean growth by flourishing personally, in her marriage, in a relationship with her daughter, friends, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially.  Flourishing means growth.

Genesis Amaris Kemp found herself in the midst of various challenging situations in a field where women in general much less African-American women weren’t easily breaking the norms.  Genesis found herself having to  break through the walls of what some call the “good ole boy” club in her industry.  You can only imagine what it would have been like for an African-American woman to overcome the culture and break through boundaries that have been in place for generations.

It was one extremely stressful day of frustration that served as a catalyst for her to begin to document her journey as she typed into her cell phone her thoughts and emotions.  Those thoughts started the incubation period toward the birth of a tangible book in the form of Chocolate Drop in Corporate America.

We all grew up in our own special sauce.  Our marinades are complex and made up of a variety of ingredients …  environments, circumstances, emotionally traumatic experiences, personal choices, family, and peers that influenced us and molded us. The way you respond, act and live your life is directly correlated to your marinade.  It’s the way you were brought up, taught, inducted into life.  It is a reflection of who you are and who you can become.
