Takisha Artis is a Financial Life Coach and CEO of Takisha’s Theory, a Lifestyle Elevation Firm specializing in financial life coaching & personal development.
Takisha is a woman who is trying to help others change their belief about who they are and what they want and get the money to match that. She never saw herself starting a business but through her work as a CPA she saw a need and started to meet it.
Some key takeaways from this interview:
1. Don't be afraid to shift.
The business you start doesn't have to be the business you keep. Takisha has made a few shifts in her business based on the needs she was seeing from her customers.
2. When you start your own business you can set your own rules.
You don't have to run your business based on the same rules of your 9 to 5 job. You have the freedom to create your own rules around the lifestyle you want.
3. Clarity comes through action.
We want the end result without going through the process. But it's going through the process that will get you the result."
4. Help those who want your help.
We often times want to help our old selves from a few years ago. That person may not want or be willing or able to pay for our help. You want to help the people that want your help. For those who you have a passion to help, your role may be to create awareness.

Fredrick Bussey is an entrepreneur, coach, speaker and author. His newly released book is titled "Breaking Orbit".
Fredrick's background was in the music industry where he worked as a songwriter and a producer. He transitioned into artist management and marketing and eventually became a partner in a PR firm.
One key shift that happened for Fredrick came through a coach saying to him "God doesn't make people without solutions."
He realized then that he along with most people had not been taught how to discover his gifts and deploy it in the world. This has become his life's work.
Some key takeaways:
1. A gift is given to you by someone else. A skill is something you acquire for yourself. Your gift is your capacity to fulfill a certain function for a specific purpose.
2. No gift that was created with a purpose can fail the purpose it was created to achieve. This relieves the pressure of competing with others.
3. Success is walking in your gift everyday. It isn't tied to money or titles.

Matthew Goins and his wife Marnel, started Puzzle Huddle in January 2018. They have 3 children under the age of 6 years old who love puzzles. The Goins were frustrated by the lack of diverse images on commercially produced puzzles. The family began creating unique designs. Their company provides puzzles that showcases inclusive images that children and others will love.
Matthew shares on our podcast his love for education who has 3 degrees from Howard University. He is proud of his African American heritage. Education and cultural pride are definitely things that the Goins wanted to instill into their children.
The Goins saw a problem and created a solution that has turned into a business.
Here are the big takeaways from this interview:
1. Look for solutions to the problem you see
Instead of remaining frustrated, Matthew and Marnel created a simple solution - puzzles for their children - that has now become a solution for others with the same problem.
2. Start small and be willing to learn
Matthew shared how he made his first puzzle out of cardboard. Then he graduated to having 4x6 puzzles made. Then he grew to having full size puzzles. Sometimes we wait to get things perfect before we start. We can start and then perfect things.
3. Be open to feedback
Matthew shared how he has received feedback on other groups that would like to see themselves represented in his puzzles. As he seeks to be diverse, he remains open to feedback.

Mr Ant Davis (@mrantdavis) is one of the funniest social media comedians who puts out content that is relatable and the whole family can enjoy.
Ant shares in this episode how he figured out his gift for finding humor in simple things by growing up in the church. He connected with @kevonstage and Jason Fredericks and they formed the Playmakers.
Here are the big takeaways from this interview.
1. Start with what you have
Ant shared how they started with their first play and the conditions weren't perfect but they got going anyway. The Playmakers grew from there and helped to launch their individual stand up careers after.
2. Be strategic with your creativity
Even though Ant does improv comedy online, he still schedules time to record his daily videos. It is a part of a larger strategy to get booked for shows and to end up on tv.
If you are creative you have to be strategic as well and not waste time and energy.
3. Stay focused on your goals
Ant gets a lot of his comedy ideas from the feedback of his viewers. However he is clear that he can't listen to every positive and negative comment online.
Great reminder for us all that we can't allow the voices of others to control our pursuit of our dreams.

What does it mean to be in business? Well one of the first things you realize is you have to make money to stay in business.

David shares some necessary truths with us about entrepreneurship. Some of the take aways from this episode are:
1. Entrepreneurship is work.
You have to be willing to invest the time and energy to make your business work.

Life is full of transitions. David has made a few in his career. He shares "I was more afraid of what happen if I didn't take the step."
Even within your business, you have to be willing to make transitions.

We are back after a month off. This episode is a very personal and transparent one. Kymone shares where he's been, what he's been doing and some important lessons learned during the break.
Lesson #1 - You are making a bigger impact than you realize
We may be questioning our reach, our impact and the difference we are actually making with the work we are doing. We learn that more people are watching than we know, more people are listening than we realize and more people are following than we believe.
The work you do is important because someone is being helped by it.
Lesson #2 - Clarity gives confidence
We each long for clarity as to our purpose, our lane and our assignment. Oftentimes we need the help of others to find that clarity. When it comes, it provides energy because we know clearly what we are supposed to be doing.
Lesson #3 - The biggest limit to success is your own belief
It is great and helpful for others to believe in the work we are doing and what we have to offer. Those are encouraging. What is most important however is our personal belief in our offering.
If we truly believed, we would not let rejection stop us. We would not pull back at the first obstacle. We would keep going.

Jenelle Jack helps experts and creatives to write their book, share their story and make an impact.
In this episode we learn that Jenelle always had an interest in writing but was afraid to put herself out there. Jenelle is an overcomer after having to learn to walk again after a hit and run accident.
That spirit came through in this episode as Jenelle shared about her self-publishing journey. Jenelle went from writer to coaching and consulting with others who wanted to take a similar journey.
"I thought I needed to be selling millions of copies of books or have a huge platform to coach others. But being online using social media opened my eyes to the fact that regular people a few steps ahead could teach others."
To coach you simply have to understand the process, share your knowledge and experience so you save people time and money by learning from you.
Jenelle emphasized the importance of building an email list. She talks about why just having a social media following is not enough.
