Highlights

• If you were feeling quite off after Christmas up through Saturday, we saw the BT not the BZ go quite low. The Schumann reflected it also, basically the energy was arriving faster than the Earth’s field could smooth it out.
• Solar flares at moderate to high levels with 4 M class flares and 14 C class flares allowing for some movement and support to pick up the energy.
• CME occurred and it could impact us on NYE along with coronal holes bringing higher level geomagnetic storming to G3.
• Sunspot regions are up.
• Solar wind is waning downward.
• Geomagnetic field strength is waning, auroras are increasing in frequency. Magnetic field north pole is moving towards Siberia since 1860, a year after the 1850 Carrington Event.
• With the low BT we experienced on 12/25-12/27, is this possibly something we could experience more of? How did we handle it? How may we handle it in the near future?

• Auroras Today is Christmas Eve? Add another tracker to Christmas Eve along with Santa, add an aurora tracker this evening.
• Elevated conditions due to coronal hole streams with fast moving solar wind and possible combining with the anticipated CME.
• Solar wind is still elevated.
• Geomagnetic activity is a bit less active than yesterday at this time.
• Low solar flare activity with just a handful of C class flares.
• Sunspot regions are interesting.
• Schumann has been elevated in the lower harmonics and intermittently active overall due to the solar wind and geomagnetic activity.

• Coronal hole with its positive polarity still making connection to Earth and Scotland did get briefly touched with aurora.
• Solar wind is still moderately high with a fluctuating BZ.
• Solar flare activity is lower with the highest flare being a C 8.6, almost reaching an M class.
• CME from Dec 20th could tap us tomorrow for Christmas Eve.

• Geomagnetic activity has reached G1 storming with auroras appearing at mid latitudes in Northern Scotland last night.
• Solar flare activity is now up to moderately high flaring.
• Solar wind is up strongly and elevating right now from this current coronal hole.
• Sunspot activity is up and increasing in complexity.
• Geomagnetic conditions are up and our Earth is doing some shaking.
• A 6.5 earthquake in Papua, New Guinea at 5:31 a.m est with a depth 111 km occurred this morning.

• G1 conditions that were expected for today happened on yesterday. It began at 0 utc today. We saw auroras in Montana and Washington. This was from a large transequatorial coronal hole.
• Solar wind is still streaming strong from these coronal holes.
• Solar flare activity is low.
• Sunspots numbers are low and not very dynamic.
• CME occurred 12:30 utc on 12/17, still being modeled to determine what it will do.
• Schumann showing resiliency.

• Geomagnetic storming began last night began around 18 utc yesterday lasting about 9 hours.
• Auroras were seen in and Wisconsin, Minnesota, and a charged sky in Western Massachusetts.
• CME particles and solar wind (co-rotating interacting region) produced these charged skies.
• Best meteor shower of 2025?!?! Geminid meteor shower peaks today and tomorrow – you can watch them late evening until dawn. You will also see the planet Jupiter during this time in the sky.
• Coronal hole now facing our Earth elevating solar wind.
• C class flares only these past 24 hours and sunspots losing their complexity, which means solar flare potential is down.
