This was an accident. It was never meant to be its own show, but our "segment" idea for Ep. 75 went from 20 minutes to about 65 minutes. With the length and content of the show, we decided to keep it and make it Ep. 76. Mackenzie Thirkill interviews Riley about the 5th year anniversary and the process of the show, their friendship, what the show has provided... and the Lightning Round. Shoutout Dua Lipa.

What’s it like to cover the Winter Olympics in China… during a pandemic? Here’s your show to find out.

Washington Post writer and Howard alum, Glynn Hill, joins the show to chat about his trip to Beijing, China to cover the 2022 Winter Olympics. What was his day to day was like, what did he write about, the state of modern day journalism, his move from Houston to Washington, Howard University, and our friendship. Great show, tbh.

Amanda, or Mandy, Hamm joined the show to chat about the stigma of concussions and how they have affected her career and life. In a lighter conversation after that, we named her car, swapped stories, chatted about our mutual love of beef, and did a marathon show that lived up to our listing as a “comedy” podcast.

The best name in broadcasting since... *shrug emoji*

Alexa Blase called us to chat about, among other things, Alexa Blase, women in broadcasting, Nebraska food, the middle of the United States, and volleyball pads. Loaded show, right?

After two years of a COVID pandemic, covering it all from the athletic angle, the human angle, the economic angle... but finally, we had a nurse on to talk about the immense struggle that it has been on on people in hospitals dealing with the virus, it's effects, and the scared American public. We also chatted about some non-COVID stories from the ER, our friendship, and the Lightning Round.

Up and coming broadcaster Avarie Howard joined the show to talk about women in sports media, her balance of on air & off air personality, her first time on camera, her hometown of Kansas City, the Lightning Round and so much more. Another UNO friend of IAC. She was awesome.

To kick off 2022, we did a house call to Riley’s alma mater, Sam Houston High School in Lake Charles, LA, to chat with his former English teacher and now seasoned Zoom user Amelia Meiburg  about teaching through the COVID-19 pandemic and the effect on students, parents, and educators alike.  Conversation included talk of how Calcasieu Parish (our local “county”) handled the shutdown, what the summer was like, the return to school, Hurricane Laura, Hurricane Delta, the 2021 Winter Storms in Louisiana/Texas, and the major flood that struck our city in May 2021… yeah, I know. We also hit some questions about me as a student and the Lightning Round at the end!

Our last show of 2021!

@RileyJamesIAC talks about the year that was with IAC, the behind the curtain things about the last 12 months, and runs through the best and worst moments of the show’s year.

First guest for the Bowl Game was our favourite Canadian, Sabrina Belmonte! Her knowledge about college football is almost nonexistent, but she had a fun time guessing at our list.

Third segment is previewing 2022. Some new ideas for different types of episodes, potential guests, and projected growth of the show were all topic of conversation as we head into Year 5 of If Anyone Cares.

The second guest for the Bowl Game was Ana Bellinghausen. The sports reporter’s intellect about college football is the biggest thing to watch going into that part of the show.

Lastly, we thank you for another great year. You’re the best and we always care for you. See you in ‘22.
