  • Return to the Gospel / Regresemos al Evangelio Pt. 14

In this powerful exploration of 1 Corinthians 11:2-16, JD delved into God's design for order and authority in worship. The passage challenges us to consider how our actions during worship can either glorify God or become a distraction. We're reminded that Christ is the head of every man, and man is the head of woman - not as a hierarchy, but as a reflection of God's created order.

This isn't about superiority, but about embracing our distinct, God-given roles. The text encourages us to maintain gender distinctions as established by God, emphasizing that our worship carries heavenly significance. As we reflect on this, we're called to examine how our appearance and conduct in worship aligns with God's design, fostering mutual respect and interdependence between men and women in the church.

  • Honesty / Honestidad

This past Sunday we had the privilege of having Pastor Miguel Medina from Crosspoint Español in Orlando as our special guest. In his powerful message, Pastor Miguel challenged us by calling us to cultivate a culture of authentic Christianity that truly stands out in our world. Centered on 1 John 1, Pastor Miguel reminded us of the call to walk in the light and to live in honest fellowship with God and with each other. He emphasized that true Christian community isn’t about hiding our flaws, but about embracing vulnerability and confessing our sins.

Drawing a fascinating parallel between music theory and our spiritual lives, he illustrated how the same humility that reconciles us to God also reconciles us to one another. This “cruciform fellowship” is both vertical (with God) and horizontal (with others). As we reflected on his teaching, we were encouraged to examine our own lives: Are we living authentically, or are we putting on a spiritual façade? Pastor Miguel left us with a challenging reminder to embrace the “trauma of holiness” — recognizing God’s perfection and our own sinfulness — and to find freedom in confessing our struggles rather than hiding them.

  • Return to the Gospel / Regresemos al Evangelio pt. 13

In this powerful exploration of Christian liberty, Tito challenged us to examine how we use our freedom in Christ. The message draws deeply from 1 Corinthians 10, reminding us that our spiritual privileges don't guarantee spiritual success. We're called to flee from idolatry and dedicate ourselves completely to Christ. The Lord's Supper is beautifully presented as a means of strengthening our faith against temptation, symbolizing our union with Christ and with each other. This unity is eternal, surpassing even our earthly family ties.

We're urged to consider how our actions might affect others' view of Jesus, emphasizing that our testimony matters before the world. The message powerfully illustrates that we can't be united with Christ on Sunday and with the world on Monday. It's a call to glorify God in everything we do, following Christ's example of humility and self-sacrifice.

  • Return to the Gospel / Regresemos al Evangelio Pt. 12

In this powerful message, Tito reminded us of the dangers of taking our spiritual privileges for granted. Through the story of the Israelites' exodus from Egypt, we see how even those who experienced God's miraculous interventions can fall short of His glory. The pillar of cloud, the parting of the Red Sea, and the provision of manna and water from a rock - all these incredible blessings didn't guarantee spiritual success.

This serves as a sobering reminder that our goal as Christians isn't just to escape hell, but to pursue holiness. We're challenged to examine our hearts: Are we truly leaving our 'Egypt' behind, or are we still craving the things of our old life? This message urges us to move beyond mere religious observance and seek a genuine transformation of our hearts, lest we find ourselves disqualified like many of the Israelites who never reached the Promised Land.

  • Return to the Gospel / Regresemos al Evangelio Pt. 11

In this powerful message, pastor Javier challenged us to examine our approach to faith and service through the lens of Paul's teachings in 1 Corinthians 9. The central theme revolves around surrendering our rights for a greater purpose - the advancement of the Gospel. We're reminded that true Christian freedom isn't about asserting our privileges, but about laying them down for the sake of others and for Christ.

This passage invites us to reflect on how we might be creating unnecessary barriers to the Gospel in our lives. Are we, like Paul, willing to become 'all things to all people' in order to win some to Christ? This message encourages us to move beyond a transactional approach to faith and instead embrace a transformational one, where our focus shifts from what we can get to how we can give of ourselves. It's a call to run our spiritual race with intention and discipline, keeping our eyes fixed on the eternal prize that awaits us.

  • Return to the Gospel / Regresemos al Evangelio Pt. 10

In our journey through 1 Corinthians, we've arrived at a powerful lesson on Christian freedom and love. The apostle Paul challenges us to rethink how we use our knowledge and liberty in Christ. Are we using our freedom to serve ourselves or to build up others? Through this message pastor Javier reminded us that true spiritual maturity isn't measured by what we know, but by how well we love. We're called to consider how our actions might impact our brothers and sisters in Christ, especially those whose faith might be weaker.

Just as Christ laid down His rights for us, we're challenged to lay down our rights for others. This isn't about restricting our freedom, but about using it wisely and lovingly. As we reflect on this, let's ask ourselves: How can we use our freedom in Christ to serve others and glorify God?

  • Return to the Gospel / Regresemos al Evangelio Pt. 9

This past Sunday as we continued on our series on 1 Corinthians, pastor Javier challenged us to find contentment in Christ regardless of our circumstances. In 1 Corinthians 7:17-40 the apostle Paul reminds us that God can use us wherever we are - whether single, married, or in any other life situation. This message isn't about escaping our current state, but about living faithfully within it. We're encouraged to see that no circumstance, no matter how painful or unjust, can prevent us from living a full Christian life.

The key is to remain with God in whatever condition we find ourselves. This perspective shift invites us to look beyond our immediate discomfort and see how God is working in and through us. It's a call to anchor our identity and purpose in Christ, rather than in our relationship status or social standing. As we reflect on this, we're prompted to ask: How can we cultivate contentment and faithfulness right where we are? How might our current situation, whatever it may be, become a platform for God's glory?

  • Return to to the Gospel / Regresemos al Evangelio Pt. 8

In this sermon based on 1 Corinthians 7:1-16, we delved into God's design for sexuality and relationships. The central message reminds us that the gospel doesn't suppress our desires but redeems them, placing them within the sacred covenant of marriage. We were challenged to view our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit, honoring God in all aspects of our lives.

The passage beautifully illustrates how marital intimacy is a picture of Christ's relationship with the church, emphasizing mutual submission and self-giving love. For those who are single, divorced, or widowed, we're encouraged to see our status not as a curse, but as a unique opportunity for undivided devotion to the Lord.

This message spoke to all of us, regardless of our relationship status, urging us to trust in God's ongoing work of restoration and redemption in our lives and households.

  • Return to the Gospel / Regresemos al Evangelio Pt. 7

In this powerful message, JD reminded us of our profound unity with Christ and the responsibility that comes with it. The apostle Paul's words to the Corinthians challenge us to honor God with our bodies, understanding that we are not our own. We explore the deep spiritual truth that as believers, we are united with Christ - His body, His temple.

This unity isn't just symbolic; it's a transformative reality that should shape our actions and decisions. The message draws parallels between our relationship with Christ and the intimacy of marriage, emphasizing that our bodies are members of Christ himself. This perspective calls us to flee from sexual immorality and any behavior that would dishonor the body of Christ.

We're reminded that we were bought at a price - the infinite value of Christ's sacrifice - and therefore, our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. This profound truth invites us to live in a way that glorifies God, recognizing our bodies as instruments for His purpose rather than for our own desires.
