IGN UK Podcast

Alex, Jen, and Matt have collected their gongs for the second episode of the IGN UK alternative awards. This week it's all about games, and there's not a single one for Baldur's Gate 3 (although that didn't stop Matt from bringing it up). There's no regard here for the best gameplay or most impressive mechanics - instead tune in to learn what the year's best sound effect was, the game with the best use of bad graphics, and the open world that lasted longer than Alex's holiday in France.

Cardy, Dale, and Jesse are ready to give out the IGN UK alternative movie awards for 2023. We don't care what the best film was or who did the best bit of acting. It's time to learn who the biggest dumbass in a movie was this year, or what the most egregious 80s needle drop was.

Cardy, Matt P, and Mat J are here to get excited about our first look at GTA 6. After throwing story theories and hopes around they move onto the big reveals from this year's Game Awards, including Hideo Kojima's mysterious OD collaboration with Jordan Peele, Arkane's team-up with Marvel for Blade, and Hello Games' ambitious follow-up to No Man's Sky, Light No Fire. Then in traditional IGN UK podcast fashion it all descends into chaos as crisps chat and rants about Deal or No Deal take over.

Cardy, Dale, and Emma are here to go through some of the Game Awards categories and pick out what they think will win this year. With incredible games like Baldur's Gate 3, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Alan Wake 2 to choose from it proves to be not easy at all. There's still time for a bit of nonsense too, though, with Jackass and Rock Band nostalgia taking hold at various points.

Dale has been playing with his new PlayStation Portal so he's found time to tell Cardy and Jesse all about it. Following that we've got thoughts on two new Netflix shows - Scott Pilgrim Takes Off and Squid Game: The Challenge. There's also time for some Saltburn and Bluey chat, too. Oh, and a fun AMA section. Good times.

Ridley Scott's Napoleon has arrived and Cardy went to Paris to see it. Is it good? Listen to find out. Joining him are Mat and Emma to discuss all other things TV and film as Loki, Invincible, What We Do in the Shadows and The Killer are all on the menu. All of that plus a couple of documentary recommendations if you're looking for a good helping of tonal whiplash.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has arrived and Cardy, Matt, and Jesse are here to discuss what may well make it the worst-ever COD campaign. On the brighter side, Thirsty Suitors is a fun Persona/Tony Hawk mashup wrapped in a Scott Pilgrim story that you may want to check out. There's also time for some quick reactions and wild speculation about what we might see from GTA 6 and the newly announced Legend of Zelda live-action movie.

Winter is coming and Cardy, Matt, and Jesse are here to talk all things bread and soup. Not only that, but Matt has gone hands-on with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and is ready to tell you why it isn't just Far Cry in blue skin. Jesse has finished another movie adaptation in the shape of Robocop: Rogue City which sounds like a fun ol' time. And Cardy has seen Killers of the Flower Moon, Martin Scorsese's new film which may just be the best of the year. All of that, plus a bit of time left for delightful little climbing game Jusant.

Alan Wake 2 is finally here and Cardy thinks it may well be one of the best horror games ever made. He's joined by Jesse and Mat to discuss whether or not the Five Nights at Freddy's movie reaches those same heights. Then there's still time for a chat about a couple of the new trailers for this week's Xbox Partner Preview.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is here and swinging into action to talk all about it are Cardy, Matt, and Alex. After discussing Insomniac's latest, it's time for another horror helping as Mike Flanagan's The Fall of the House of Usher has arrived just in time for Halloween. All of this plus your feedback and bit of Doctor Who chat.
