  • Rejection by some is the freedom to love others more!
    Psalm 27:1-14
    1 The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. 3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident. 4 One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. 5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock. 6 Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD. 7 Hear my voice when I call, LORD; be merciful to me and answer me. 8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek. 9 Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior. 10 Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me. 11 Teach me your way, LORD; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. 12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations. 13 I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. 14 Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.

  • SELF-CARE IS A PRIORITY. NOT A LUXURY.
    Psalm 51:1-19
    1 Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.  2 Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.  4 Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.  5 Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.  6 Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place.  7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.  8 Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. 9 Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity.  10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.  11 Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.  12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.  13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways, so that sinners will turn back to you.  14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, you who are God my Savior, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.  15 Open my lips, Lord, and my mouth will declare your praise.  16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.  17 My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.  18 May it please you to prosper Zion, to build up the walls of Jerusalem.  19 Then you will delight in the sacrifices of the righteous, in burnt offerings offered whole; then bulls will be offered on your altar.

  • Encouragement is seeing the potential in others and what can be achieved.
    Psalm 29:1-11.
    1 Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings,
    ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
    2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
    worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.
    3 The voice of the Lord is over the waters;
    the God of glory thunders,
    the Lord thunders over the mighty waters.
    4 The voice of the Lord is powerful;
    the voice of the Lord is majestic.
    5 The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
    the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.
    6 He makes Lebanon leap like a calf,
    Sirion like a young wild ox.
    7 The voice of the Lord strikes
    with flashes of lightning.
    8 The voice of the Lord shakes the desert;
    the Lord shakes the Desert of Kadesh.
    9 The voice of the Lord twists the oaks
    and strips the forests bare.
    And in his temple all cry, “Glory!”
    10 The Lord sits enthroned over the flood;
    the Lord is enthroned as King forever.
    11 The Lord gives strength to his people;
    the Lord blesses his people with peace.

  • Convictions give beliefs its strength.
    Psalm 25:1-7
    1 In you, Lord my God,
        I put my trust.
    2 I trust in you;
        do not let me be put to shame,
        nor let my enemies triumph over me.
    3 No one who hopes in you
        will ever be put to shame,
    but shame will come on those
        who are treacherous without cause.
    4 Show me your ways, Lord,
        teach me your paths.
    5 Guide me in your truth and teach me,
        for you are God my Savior,
        and my hope is in you all day long.
    6 Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love,
        for they are from of old.
    7 Do not remember the sins of my youth
        and my rebellious ways;
    according to your love remember me,
        for you, Lord, are good.

  • Loving life is a choice, not a byproduct of everything going our way.
    Psalm 91:9-16
    9 If you say, “The LORD is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, 10 no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. 11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. 14 “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. 15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

  • There is no failure except in no longer trying.
    Psalm 123:1-4
    1 I lift up my eyes to you, to you who sit enthroned in heaven.  2 As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a female slave look to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, till he shows us his mercy.  3 Have mercy on us, LORD, have mercy on us, for we have endured no end of contempt.  4 We have endured no end of ridicule from the arrogant, of contempt from the proud.

  • Character is about how we treat others.
    Psalm 57:1-11
    1 Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed. 2 I cry out to God Most High, to God, who vindicates me. 3 He sends from heaven and saves me, rebuking those who hotly pursue me—God sends forth his love and his faithfulness. 4 I am in the midst of lions; I am forced to dwell among ravenous beasts— men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords. 5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth. 6 They spread a net for my feet— I was bowed down in distress. They dug a pit in my path— but they have fallen into it themselves. 7My heart, O God, is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music. 8 Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. 9 I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. 10 For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. 11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.

  • When your values are clear to you, your decisions are easier.
    Psalm 1:1-6
    1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. 4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

  • Test everything; hold fast what is good.
    Psalm 101:1-8
    1 I will sing of your love and justice;
        to you, Lord, I will sing praise.
    2 I will be careful to lead a blameless life—
        when will you come to me.
    I will conduct the affairs of my house
        with a blameless heart.
    3 I will not look with approval
        on anything that is vile
    I hate what faithless people do;
        I will have no part in it.
    4 The perverse of heart shall be far from me;
        I will have nothing to do with what is evil.
    5 Whoever slanders their neighbor in secret,
        I will put to silence;
    whoever has haughty eyes and a proud heart,
        I will not tolerate.
    6 My eyes will be on the faithful in the land,
        that they may dwell with me;
    the one whose walk is blameless
        will minister to me.
    7 No one who practices deceit
        will dwell in my house;
    no one who speaks falsely
        will stand in my presence.
    8 Every morning I will put to silence
        all the wicked in the land;
    I will cut off every evildoer
        from the city of the Lord.

  • If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.
    Psalm 139:1-6
    1 You have searched me, LORD, and you know me.  2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.  3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.  4 Before a word is on my tongue you, LORD, know it completely.  5 You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.  6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
