  • Where the Lord finds the vessel empty, he pours down his blessings!
    Psalm 33:1-5
    1 Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous;
    it is fitting for the upright to praise him.
    2 Praise the Lord with the harp;
    make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.
    3 Sing to him a new song;
    play skillfully, and shout for joy.
    4 For the word of the Lord is right and true;
    he is faithful in all he does.
    5 The Lord loves righteousness and justice;
    the earth is full of his unfailing love.

  • Love God, serve God; everything is in that.
    Psalm 130:1-8
    1 Out of the depths I cry to you, LORD;  2 Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.  3 If you, LORD, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?  4 But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you.  5 I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.  6 I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.  7 Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with him is full redemption.  8 He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins.

  • May we be the light in this world that God wants us to be.
    Psalm 4:1-8
    1 Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer.  2 How long will you people turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods  3 Know that the LORD has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him.  4 Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent.  5 Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the LORD.  6 Many, LORD, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?” Let the light of your face shine on us.  7 Fill my heart with joy when their grain and new wine abound.  8 In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety.

  • Because he lives I can face tomorrow.
    1 Corinthians 13:1-13
    1 IfI speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

  • To be absent from body and present with the Lord!
    Psalm 101:1-8
    1 I will sing of your love and justice;
        to you, Lord, I will sing praise.
    2 I will be careful to lead a blameless life—
        when will you come to me?
    I will conduct the affairs of my house
        with a blameless heart.
    3 I will not look with approval
        on anything that is vile.
    I hate what faithless people do;
        I will have no part in it.
    4 The perverse of heart shall be far from me;
        I will have nothing to do with what is evil.
    5 Whoever slanders their neighbor in secret,
        I will put to silence;
    whoever has haughty eyes and a proud heart,
        I will not tolerate.
    6 My eyes will be on the faithful in the land,
        that they may dwell with me;
    the one whose walk is blameless
        will minister to me.
    7 No one who practices deceit
        will dwell in my house;
    no one who speaks falsely
        will stand in my presence.
    8 Every morning I will put to silence
        all the wicked in the land;
    I will cut off every evildoer
        from the city of the Lord.

  • Peace begins with a smile!
    Psalm 116:1-7
    1 I love the Lord, for he heard my voice;
        he heard my cry for mercy.
    2 Because he turned his ear to me,
        I will call on him as long as I live.
    3 The cords of death entangled me,
        the anguish of the grave came over me;
        I was overcome by distress and sorrow.
    4 Then I called on the name of the Lord:
        “Lord, save me!”
    5 The Lord is gracious and righteous;
        our God is full of compassion.
    6 The Lord protects the unwary;
        when I was brought low, he saved me.
    7 Return to your rest, my soul,
        for the Lord has been good to you.

  • Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.
    Psalm 51:1-19
    1 Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.  2 Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.  4 Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.  5 Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.  6 Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place.  7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.  8 Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. 9 Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity.  10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.  11 Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.  12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.  13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways, so that sinners will turn back to you.  14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, you who are God my Savior, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.  15 Open my lips, Lord, and my mouth will declare your praise.  16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.  17 My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.  18 May it please you to prosper Zion, to build up the walls of Jerusalem.  19 Then you will delight in the sacrifices of the righteous, in burnt offerings offered whole; then bulls will be offered on your altar.

  • You and I are not obscure in the eyes of God. We are created in his image.
    Psalm 49:1-11
    1 Hear this, all you peoples;
        listen, all who live in this world,
    2 both low and high,
        rich and poor alike:
    3 My mouth will speak words of wisdom;
        the meditation of my heart will give you understanding.
    4 I will turn my ear to a proverb;
        with the harp I will expound my riddle:
    5 Why should I fear when evil days come,
        when wicked deceivers surround me—
    6 those who trust in their wealth
        and boast of their great riches?
    7 No one can redeem the life of another
        or give to God a ransom for them—
    8 the ransom for a life is costly,
        no payment is ever enough—
    9 so that they should live on forever
        and not see decay.
    10 For all can see that the wise die,
        that the foolish and the senseless also perish,
        leaving their wealth to others.
    11 Their tombs will remain their houses forever,
        their dwellings for endless generations,
        though they had named lands after themselves.

  • In God I trust and am not afraid. What can man do to me?

  • Live life by looking for the right path, full of light.
    Psalm 17:1-5
    1 Hear me, Lord, my plea is just;listen to my cry. Hear my prayer— it does not rise from deceitful lips.2 Let my vindication come from you; may your eyes see what is right. 3 Though you probe my heart, though you examine me at night and test me, you will find that I have planned no evil; my mouth has not transgressed. 4 Though people tried to bribe me,   I have kept myself from the ways of the violent through what your lips have commanded. 5 My steps have held to your paths; my feet have not stumbled.
