In this episode of Reading Between The Lines, Hamza & Mishkat discuss a hit miniseries on HBO called 'Chernobyl'. This is a dramatic retelling of the events leading up to and the aftermath of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant's meltdown in 1986 in Soviet Ukraine.
We discuss the stellar videography, cast, characters, and plot of this miniseries.
Warning: There is one scene of nudity, in the 3rd or 4th episode, where Russian miners had to mine without clothing. This is a brief scene and is inconsequential to the plot. We recommend this miniseries for older adolescence and adults only as this show deals heavily with the effects of radiation on the body and does have gruesome scenes depicting bodily harm from radiation.

This segment is called Reading between the Lines where we discuss a book that we read recently and also make a few book suggestions for our Muslim community. In this episode, we discuss The End is Always Near by author and podcaster Dan Carlin. Dan Carlin started his career in the radio broadcast industry and has since moved into the world of podcasting, producing incredible history podcasts such as Hardcore History & various albums including Supernova in the East.
The End is Always Near is a historical nonfiction book looking at instances in human history where a society perceived its near end - including the Black Death (bubonic plague) of the mid 1300s & the start of the atomic age with the development of nuclear arsenals by both the United States & then Soviet Union.
The book suggestions at the end of the episode include:
The first official episode of Ihya502. This segment, titled Muslim Musings, involves the host Hamza Foy interviewing a member of the Louisville Muslim community. In this episode, our first guest is Salihin Muqarrabin.
