On today's podcast episode I had the opportunity to chat with Maya Markowski, owner of Equest Dressage. Maya is a Canadian Dressage trainer, competitor and coach based outside of Guelph, ON. We covered so many topics I know that you are interested in - such as developing young horses and discussed the nuances around how to learn and teach "feeling". Dressage is such a technical discipline which is why Maya and many others believe that it can be helpful for all horses to learn. We also spoke about how she appreciates being able to have riders feel the way movements and well-trained horses are undersaddle, and some of the differences between how riding is taught differently in Europe versus North America. I asked her all about her business, current mounts, plans for the future and how she handles the inevitable obstacles and setbacks of being in the industry. Maya had some great advice for anyone interested in learning about the discipline of dressage and I can't wait for you to hear this episode!

On today's podcast episode I had the chance to chat with Julien Moreau and Maddie Corrigan of Longchamps Equine Ltd. in Erin, Ontario. Maddie and Julien have both worked with top professionals in North America and Europe. They started their own business in April 2020, currently providing lessons, training board, sales and consignment. They had an abundance of great advice to share with the listeners and aspiring  equestrians. We discussed training horses, riders and developing important relationships with others in the industry and how that has helped them in their own business. They had unique perspectives given their varying backgrounds coming up in the sport and have some really exciting entrepreneurial endeavours currently on the go! On today's episode I spoke with the lovely Carly Campbell-Cooper. Carly is an accomplished professional rider, coach and trainer who has joined forces with her husband John Jamieson at Endless Journey Farm in Ontario to continue pursuing their performance horse sales and training program. Carly has a wealth of knowledge having run her own client-based business for several years and spoke honestly about her journey navigating the industry. She has had many accomplishments in the big classes both in her junior and professional career, and I was grateful for the opportunity to ask her about some of the topics we're always interested in hearing about! We discussed developing horses, riders, dealing with competition nerves, confidence, the ups and downs of running a business, and so much more. I also had the chance to ask her about buying and selling high level prospects. Carly is so down to earth and I am excited for you guys to hear all of the inspiring things she had to say!

You asked and you shall receive! What a fantastic episode today with Christine Reupke. Christine holds a senior officials card for the equitation, hunter and jumper divisions with Equestrian Canada. She is also the Director of Equestrian & Breed Sport at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. Christine has spent many years as a professional in the industry and has extensive experience judging multiple levels of the sport. I was given the opportunity to ask all of your burning questions and learned so much during this episode I know that you will too! Christine and I discussed the judge's perspective, her personal preference, do's and don'ts, scoring, rules, good and bad habits in the show ring plus so much more. Today on the podcast I had the pleasure of speaking with Lauren Hayes! Lauren grew up heavily immersed in the equestrian industry (her father Jay Hayes being a two-time Olympic and Canadian Team member) with an extensive junior and national career as a professional. Lauren and I discussed the importance of willingness when it comes to equine partners, the differences in characteristics one would look for a GP level horse versus a partner for a less experienced rider. We covered topics like motherhood, work-life balance and feelings of self-doubt. She also shared her schedule as a trainer and the realities of working in a busy profession. I appreciate Lauren's perspective on many of the topics we spoke about in this interview and I know that you guys will get a lot of value out of it.

On the podcast today I had the chance to chat with Peter Gisborn. Peter is a professional rider and coach that was born into the equestrian industry following the footsteps of multiple generations in his family. Peter has had great success in his own career and also enjoys coaching his students at the national level.
