How should Christians view and treat financial debt? Should Christians ever get into debt? Are different kinds of debt more significant or urgent than others? Should Christians ignore paying off debt for the sake of using their money to help others?
Psalm 37:21 - The wicked borrows but does not pay back, but the righteous is generous and gives...
Believer, in this upcoming year live a life with the threefold cord of secret prayer, doing good, and self-denial. As you secretly commune with Christ you will, out of love for Him, be zealous for good works and die to yourself daily.
Are you at peace? You don't want to get to your death bed, and find there is no rest, no peace. Is there rest, is there peace between you and God? Or is your life not at rest? Jesus says, "Come!" and there is no one more qualified to come and preach peace. He's the very one that made peace between God and man. He took all that hostility, He took all the severe punishment for all those sins; so that we would have peace with God.
Jesus smashed down the separations between the Jews and Gentiles. He did this that "He might create in Himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace." (Eph 2:15) We are now members of the same family and "members of the household of God." (Eph 2:19) This same thing that unites the Jew and Gentile is what unites believers, no matter their skin color. Those old designations don't matter any more when you are one in Christ.
When we gather together in our prayer meetings there should be a militancy about those prayers. Is there the smell of war on those prayers? Because we are at war. We must not lose our alertness to the reality of the Devil of whom we wrestle against. Our enemy does not want us desperate in prayer, but he wants us falling asleep.
Spiritual instability will hold the believer back in the Christian life. Is your walk with Christ stable, consistent, and solid; like a fruitful tree planted by a stream of water? Nathan speaks on the under-appreciated value of spiritual stability.
So, how much of your life are you to be acknowledging the Lord in? The verse says, "In all your ways acknowledge Him." That covers quite a bit of territory doesn't it? All your ways. It is anything you are doing, anything you are involved in; really any detail that you care about in your life. God says, "I want to be Lord of that. I want to be brought into the scheme there. I care about that thing, I want you to pray about that. I want you to think about what I say in My Word about that matter." - Nathan Rages
In this Ask Pastor Tim, two questions are dealt with that involve children and whether or not to submit to their parents.
Question 1: I want to give up high school but at the same time I want to obey my parents who want me to do well. What do I do?
Question 2: Hello, I am 17, I want to get my license but my parents don’t care (they are unbelievers) they allowed me/told me to drive and I realized lately that I’ve been sinning (I think) but they want me to wait to get them at 18 and want me to in the meantime drive to work (with my dad building fences mostly ‘we live out in the country’) I don’t want to sin toward God by driving but also not obeying my parents what should I do. I think it might be okay because we live in a very small community (out in the country) and the closest town is very small. What should I do?
As the believer daily renews their mind in the Scriptures, and in prayer they cast themselves upon the Lord - they will walk in purity. When you find a struggling believer and ask them about their prayer life and time in the Word, they will tend to respond by acknowledging it is lacking. When we read and believe the Gospel truths in the Bible, it will affect how we live.
