John 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. 18 "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.
This message was given in 2007 when Clint Leiter was appointed as a co-pastor at Highway M Chapel in Sedalia, Missouri.
The pastor shepherds God's sheep not with rigor and severity, but with love and humility; not as temporal lords but as spiritual guides, especially by example. They shepherd not by their own laws but by Christ's laws and not for their own honor and glory, but for the honor and glory of Christ and His kingdom.
The Bible commands us to not be deceived and delude ourselves. Paul says, "Evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived." (2 Timothy 3:13) Jesus tells us in Matthew 7 that many who profess to be believers will hear "I never knew you" and were ultimately deceived. We should heed these warnings. We should also find ourselves letting this cast us upon Christ in whom is our only hope.
