On this episode of Illegal Curve Hockey, we discuss the new era of Illegal Curve as we start going live Monday-Friday at 3PM CT, a Winnipeg Jets vs Minnesota Wild preview and more!
After 16 years of Saturday mornings, we closed the book on a longstanding Illegal Curve tradition!
For more than a decade and a half, the Illegal Curve Hockey Show had been part of the Saturday morning routine for hockey fans, bringing them the latest news, analysis, interviews and plenty of hockey talk along the way.
On our final Saturday show, we covered plenty of ground, including the lack of offensive production from the Jets’ second and fourth lines, whether the team’s start to the season could have any impact on the Connor Hellebuyck situation, the need for the fourth line to establish a clear identity, where Elias Salomonsson would fit into the lineup once healthy, and much more.
While that marked our final Saturday show, it certainly wasn't goodbye. In fact, it was the beginning of an exciting new chapter as Illegal Curve moved to a Monday-to-Friday daily show!
And don't worry, the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show wasn't going anywhere! We continued breaking down all the action following every Winnipeg Jets game, just as fans had come to expect.
Guest: Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Free Press joined at 9:58.
The Jets saw their three-game winning streak come to an end as the Ducks handed them their first regulation loss of the season in a 5-1 defeat.
The Jets lost Josh Morrissey for most of the final two periods, but that didn't slow them down as Kyle Connor scored twice, Cole Perfetti added another and Mark Scheifele chipped in with two assists to lead Winnipeg to a 3-2 win over Colorado. Stuart Skinner was excellent in net making 32 saves on 34 shots. The victory improves the Jets to 3-0-1 on the season.
The Jets made it two wins on consecutive days, rallying from a 1-0 deficit after 40 minutes to beat the Penguins. The third period turned into a wild one, with the two teams combining for four goals in just 4:19 as Winnipeg scored three of them to take control of the game. They ended the night as the first-place team in the Central.
Once the final buzzer sounded, the analysis began!
Drew, Ezra and Dave broke down the comeback, the third-period offensive explosion and how the Jets completed a perfect back-to-back on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show.
The Jets rode a red-hot power play to their first win of the season, scoring three times with the man advantage before holding off a late Red Wings push for a 3-2 victory in Detroit. Kyle Connor scored twice, Cole Perfetti opened the scoring and Tyrel Bauer made his presence felt with his second NHL fight as Winnipeg improved to 1-0-1.
Once the final buzzer sounded, the analysis began!
Check out what Drew, Ezra and Dave had to say about the Jets’ 3-2 win over the Red Wings, including the key moments, standout performances and all the reaction from the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show.
The Jets have played their first game of the season, blowing a late third-period lead to the Bruins before ultimately falling 4-3 in an exciting overtime finish. We shared some more thoughts on the season opener, look ahead to the two-game road trip out east that begins Sunday in Detroit, discuss the NHL debuts of Tyrel Bauer and Viggo Björck, and preview this afternoon’s Moose and Wolves season opener in Winnipeg.
Guest: Jets team reporter Jamie Thomas at 58:40
The Jets opened the 2026-27 season with a back-and-forth battle against the Bruins, but had to settle for a single point in a 4-3 overtime loss. Dylan DeMelo scored Winnipeg’s first goal of the season, Kyle Connor extended his remarkable season-opening goal streak to nine straight years and Mario Ferraro gave the Jets a late second-period lead before Boston forced overtime and J.J. Peterka ended it in the extra frame.
