Perry admits, “I’ve been going through a season of some depression and accusations from my conscience, and the enemy. On one hand it’s embarrassing to admit, but on the other, what freedom to admit to my humanness and know that I’m not suffering because God’s punishing me!”
Shawna got grumpy yesterday so she woke up this morning and decided to try harder. Then she realized she was trading God’s power for will power. What if, instead, we apply our efforts AND ask God for what we need?
Then, Perry gets into some great conversations about faith in the sauna. But the last one he had went off the rails cause he forgot to share the gospel “with gentleness and respect.”
The more access we have, the more self-control we need. Shawna came face to face with that reality this week. She tells that story.
We tend to assume that the more knowledge we have about the Bible the more spiritually mature we’ll be. But the Pharisees knew a LOT and it didn’t make them more loving. As we grow in understanding we must also surrender to the transforming work of Jesus.
