I’m Jealous

We’re pivoting ladies!

I know I told you this podcast was all about entrepreneurship and starting a business BUT…

I’ve recently realized (while recording this podcast!) that there’s more to it than that. In order for me to start a successful business and be the type of boss ass bitch I’d be jealous of (ala Rihanna, who just hit billionaire status!!! I’m excited for her and obviously so jealous I could fall over) I gotta deal with some of my hatin ass demons!

For reals, I gotta find a way to know myself, and love and value myself - mind, body and spirit. And that’s the pivot! This podcast will still follow my journey to starting my business because having a business is so central to my idea of who I want to be. But it’s also going to dig into some of my issues regarding fear, shame, self-love and purpose.

But we’re not just gonna talk about it we’re gonna BE about it!

I’ve set a few big goals for myself. To achieve them I’m gonna take baby steps and do one thing each week to know myself better and love myself more.

This week my challenge is to look at myself NAKED while I brush my teeth in the morning. I’ve never done it before 😐. Did someone say body image issues 🙋🏾‍♀️

I came to a major revelation while recording this episode…The reason why I hate taking pictures and recording videos and posting them on social media is because I still don’t really like myself. I’m not sure why I’m only just now putting this together. Slow learner! 🤦🏾‍♀️

Learning so much about strategy, customers and competition. Aha moment recently - Every business decision you make should be made with your ideal customer in mind! It all stems from your customer, what is she into and how can you reach her and help her? You need to know your customer in order to determine a sound strategy and to figure out who your competitors are.

Oh and I’m still jealous! 🤣

At Nkedo I celebrate all bodies and know that there is no ONE ideal body! That's why I started this whole thing. There are lots of bodies, real bodies! And they're all different. Stretch marks, chunks, hyper-pigmentation and all! I'll find a way to work that in the next time I do my pitch.

This week I'm so so so jealous of local influencers and just basically anyone who has a decent social media following.

The doubt got me this week friends! I cried and I gave up for about 30 minutes lol. But I’m back now and I’m better. Promise! I’m jealous of Sara Blakely the founder of Spanx 😍

So much to catch up on friends!!! Got my very first prototype! Got swatches! Found a local seamstress! Lots of good stuff but on the flip side…the prototype is too small (my ass has gotten fatter 🤷🏾‍♀️). Also a lot of money spending in May. Plus! Blah week but still getting shit done. Found a website developer who also does branding and marketing and she’s willing to do it all within my budget! Networking works!
