Rose Gottemoeller: Nuclear Arms Negotiator, NATO Leader, and Stanford Policy Expert on Global Security

Rose Gottemoeller, former Deputy Secretary General of NATO (2016–2019), is one of the world’s leading voices in nuclear arms control, international diplomacy, and global security strategy. Currently, she serves as the William J. Perry Lecturer at Stanford University’s Freeman Spogli Institute and is a Research Fellow at the Hoover Institution and the Center for International Security and Cooperation.

Throughout her distinguished career, Gottemoeller has shaped the modern landscape of global arms control. She negotiated the New START Treaty with Russia, significantly reducing deployed nuclear warheads, and played a pivotal role in securing Soviet nuclear weapons after the Cold War.

Her tenure at NATO was marked by complex geopolitical challenges, including navigating the Trump Administration’s critical stance on NATO. She helped push for increased defense spending among allies while maintaining unity and strategic coherence.

Gottemoeller’s interest in Russian language and policy was sparked by the space race and shaped through mentorship and early work at Battelle Memorial Institute and the Rand Corporation. With roles under both the Clinton and Obama administrations, she has long been a key figure in U.S. nuclear policy.

Today, she continues to lead in academia, teaching negotiation skills, engaging in Track 2 diplomacy, and inspiring the next generation of public service leaders. From her Ohio roots to the global stage, Gottemoeller champions mentorship, calculated risk-taking, and lifelong public service.

I’ve had the opportunity to do several different types of jobs, but when I started working in credit unions in 2003, I found my career and my passion. I served members as call center representative, loan officer, call center manager and ultimately ended up working in fraud and compliance starting in 2009.

In the last 15 years, the areas I have worked in had the additional duties involving fraud. Whether it’s stopping someone from being a victim or protecting the credit union from fraud, I work hard to educate people on the types of fraud that are out there. It gets more and more difficult with the way technology evolves to stay ahead of all of the fraud out there. Any day that I can stop fraud is a good day!

Curatorial Assistant at the Contemporary Dayton

I grew up with a family of artists, so it was an easy choice to go to Webster University in St. Louis, MO and graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis in Studio Art in 2012. Now I live in Fairborn, Ohio with my husband, son and new daughter still creating art.

What I mainly focus on are my interpretations of the human connection to nature by showing botanicals as part of the human body as well as circuits flowing through plants and natural settings. This is to emphasize that parts of humanity are very similar to parts of the natural world and that the bond between the two is still present no matter how humanity tries to sometimes distance itself. It is also my creative take on genetic modification of nature. 
We want our plants to grow bigger, taste better, look prettier, but how often do we stop and consider what all these technological changes are doing to the plants? Does it make them look better? Does it truly help them achieve optimum performance? 

My choice of medium are watercolors, inks and soft pastel.  I find that these materials  blend well together, just like my unpredictable imagination that moves from one thing to the next.

Jayden Mahon
Fitness Outreach Specialist
Kettering Health, Dayton

While growing up, Jayden Mahon enjoyed playing outside with her friends and participating in sports like volleyball, basketball, and soccer in Michigan.  After graduating summa cum laude with her bachelors degree in sociology from Wittenberg University in 2017, she moved to Ohio, the place that truly came to feel like home to her.  She joined a bootcamp that ignited her passion for fitness. The support she received from the community inspired her desire to help others achieve their fitness goals.  

She started her career in fitness working as Front Desk Attendant at Fitworks Fitness and Training Center, a gym once located in Beavercreek, Ohio.  While working there in 2019, she earned her personal training certification and continued her college education, taking science classes at Sinclair Community College, where she would earn two associate degrees, one in 2020 and the other in 2024.  

In 2021, she started working as a Health and Wellness Coordinator, where she expanded her skills over the course of 2.5 years, earning certifications as a tobacco cessation coach, a CPR instructor, and an MMA conditioning coach during that time.  She became inspired to earn her MMA conditioning certification while traveling to places such as Italy and Brazil to support her long-term boyfriend in world Sanda Martial Arts Tournaments.  She, herself, developed a passion for martial arts and began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which she has now been training with her boyfriend for over two years.  

As of 2024, Jayden works for Kettering Health as a Fitness Outreach Specialist.  She gives exercise presentations and provides community education on various topics including exercise, hands-only CPR, tobacco cessation, and more.

Larry Pacifico 

Larry Pacifico, founder of PACIFICO/POWER and Certified Master of Fitness Sciences, is a powerlifting icon and one of the most dominant strength athletes in history. He won nine consecutive IPF World Powerlifting Championships from 1971 to 1979, setting 54 world records across the 198 to 242-pound weight classes.

Renowned figures like Bill Kazmaier and Don Reinhoudt have praised Pacifico as a godlike figure in the sport, cementing his legacy as a true legend of powerlifting. His official best lifts include an 832-pound squat, 592-pound raw bench press, and 771-pound deadlift, with exhibition totals reaching 885 squat, 610 bench, and 815 deadlift—all without modern lifting gear.

In 1998, he was inducted into the York Barbell Hall of Fame for his impact on strength sports. Beyond the platform, Pacifico made national appearances as a color commentator for NBC and CBS, working alongside Bob Costas and Bryant Gumbel.

In the mid-1980s, Pacifico helped pioneer the personal training industry in the Miami Valley through his company, PACIFICO/POWER, which grossed nearly $1 million annually during the 1990s. His dual legacy in elite performance and fitness business innovation continues to inspire generations of lifters and trainers worldwide.

Pete Williams: Mayor, Urban Planner, and Advocate for Riverside’s Growth & Regional Collaboration

Pete Williams, the fourth Mayor of Riverside, Ohio, has been leading his hometown with a bold vision since 2019. Re-elected in 2023 for a second term, Pete brings over 20 years of experience in Urban Planning and Economic Development to the role, blending community values with strategic innovation.

A proud Dayton native raised in the Belmont neighborhood, Pete is a graduate of Archbishop Carroll High School, Sinclair Community College, and the University of Dayton, where he earned both a Political Science degree and a Master’s in Public Administration. Today, he also serves as Director of Advancement at Carroll High School, helping lead the very institution that shaped him.

Pete’s leadership extends far beyond Riverside’s borders. He has served on influential boards including Dayton Defense, the Wright-Patterson Community Partnership Initiative, JobsOhio West, and Welcome Dayton’s County-Wide Expansion Initiative. In 2024, he was named to the inaugural class of the Regional Aerospace and Defense Awards, adding to a long list of accolades including Top 40 Under 40 from the Dayton Business Journal.

Mary E Thomas

Mary E. Thomas recently received her Master’ degree in Christian Ministry from United Theological Seminary, Dayton, Ohio, and is a graduate of the University of Dayton. She has attended Christian Life Center for 30 years and is married to Wayne Thomas. They have four adult children and four grandchildren. They are the owners of W & M Properties, Inc. and many other small businesses.
She is the founder of Dove’s Cry WHW (Women Helping Women), Inc. since 2014. They have served the City of Dayton, surrounding areas, and blessed many women in the United States and abroad through their website, Dovescry.org, online Facebook Ministry, and hosting various retreats and outreaches to the city of Dayton.

Our theme verse, "Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Mary is employed at Christian Life Center, Dayton, Ohio, in the area of Spiritual Formation overseeing the Learning Groups, Seminars and Workshops. She is lead teacher and trainer of their women’s team to the eSwatini In-Community-by-Community (ICBC) Africa Outreach where they host one-week ladies retreats on renewing the body, mind and soul. She has taught Precept Inductive Bible Classes through Precept International, Chattanooga TN for over 20 years and currently teaches two Bible classes, which is her JOY. She served on the board of Dayton Women and the Word (DWITW) for one year, speaks at their Intensive Workshops, and continues to volunteer with them serving the women of St. Vincent DePaul. She mentors many young women from teens to 40’s. She loves traveling worldwide, gardening, and photography.
