God fulfilled his promise to bring a redeemer to rescue mankind from sin and eternal separation from God. However, he did it in a surprising, unexpected way - through a poor virgin girl. God also surprises us by including in the Messiah's royal genealogy people who were unacceptable by the people's standards but accepted by God's standards.
