The message of Jesus Christ slain for sinners is regarded as foolish and weak because it denies or runs against what we believe (in our lost condition) about ourselves and about what we need to be whole, to be safe, to be satisfied. It tells a different narrative about reality than the world tells and it provides different means than what the world prescribes.
