Ghazal 1631 from Rumi's Divan is an invitation to divine intoxication, where logic drowns, and love reigns supreme. The wine of the soul flows freely, awakening those who are asleep to the secrets of existence. Rumi calls on the cupbearer to pour the sacred wine, a drink not of this world but of pure awakening. He mocks philosophers who cling to logic, declaring that true lovers have drowned in the sea of love. For them, even the vast ocean is but a single cup.

In the Wisdom of Abraham, Ibn Arabi explores how the divine reality becomes knowable through created existence while always exceeding it. Abraham, named al-Khalīl (“the intimate friend”), symbolizes "mutual indwelling" (permeation): God is manifest in creation, and creation reveals God. The chapter grapples with paradoxes of agency, knowledge, praise, and responsibility, asking how humans both depend on the Real and serve as loci in which divine Names appear. Its central concern is to show that divine transcendence and immanence are not opposites but intertwined dimensions of a single, dynamic relationship between the Real and the human knower.

In this video, I explore how suffering—especially in severe situations like war—can lead to elevation. Drawing on Rumi’s teachings, I show how certain forms of intense suffering, when approached with the right perspective, can become constructive rather than destructive.
